I'd like to go. What exit do you take? It's right around Barstow is what I've heard.

I shoot on private land that is surrounded by BLM (abandoned mining operation) From what I have read and heard (talked to a SBCS Deputy) The county sheriff doesn't allow BLM LEO to enforce laws on private land.
I do not like shooting around other people unless I bring em with me. I shoot west of Hodge road and never see people out there. I did run into a couple long range shooters early this year, they had also talked to local LE and was told the same thing I was.
You just want to make sure you don't wander on to military property. They don't take kindly to people shooting on their land, at least the land I was on.Last edited by golfish; 08-14-2015, 4:17 PM.It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

I had a CHP helicopter circle overhead for a few minutes. I've seen the sheriff and chp on the overpass.
I was there a few weeks ago, same as always. However, a worker from the cell tower came over to talk to us and ask about the people shooting closer to the tower (we were a couple berms away). He said he was told to call the sheriff and have them come out and "guard" him while he goes up to inspect the tower. I told him to just ask the people to stop shooting while he is up there because everyone I have met out there are friendly and accommodating. He said there is a large propane tank up there and many of the dishes are shot up so he was worried. I can't stand those idiots for shooting up stuff like that, it gives the rest of us a bad name.Gun control is a 1" group at 500 yds!Comment

SoCalEnthusiast threads never disappoint and this is no exception. Fully auto weapons?! Who are you Leland Yee?
Of course police and other law enforcement frequently check out people shooting at Hodge Rd. It's a well known shooting location for newer and infrequent shooters. Where else would you go and find so many illegal mags, guns, etc.? I've even heard of stories here on calguns where a sheriff's helicopter has landed just to cite someone. If you are wondering if you can get a LTC in Riverside County: THE ANSWER IS YES!

I have had the rangers stop and talk to us about our guns. They were very nice and friendly and no problems at all. Not quite sure why they stopped, or what they were looking for. I was with some buddies and we all had simple stuff.... Mosins, revolvers, nothing wild. I had just packed up the AK47 and the AR15, (both legal with bullet buttons and 10 rd mags) and they asked if anybody was shooting any 223 and we just said no and showed them the guns we had on the table.
They acted very friendly and respectful.Comment

I've missed your artful and astute posts, SoCal. Where have you been? Are you still dual-wielding those man cannons?Anchors Aweigh
