    Is Hodge Road still....

going on???? I've heard that's the go-to place to shoot off a few rounds outdoors without a worry in the world.

What are your guys thoughts? I've been off the radar due to some personal things I had to take care of.

    Any help would be appreciated.

The only worry in the world is the other shooters around you. It's an unnerving feeling to hear ricochets and bullets flying by as you set up targets......

Some people are very nice and respectful, some are mall ninjas doing a bump fire mag dump from the hip 100 yards from you.

I only go there on week days and drive far away from everyone else. Forget about it on weekends, the place is packed and far too unsafe unless you drive a mile or two out.

Do the police ever show up to survey the scene?

Don't forget steel jacketed or core ammo is illegal on SoCal BLM land even if the spot you're going to isn't closed for the fire danger season. I've heard of cops going there but I have no personal experience with that.

Was there about a year ago on a Saturday morning and ventured off down a smaller road to get away from the throngs, you could hear bullets over your head. Some brilliant couple set up their targets parallel to a curved road, they ended up with the road as their backstop. They didn't see me until I swerved off road and took a B-line back to Hodge, they wouldn't look at me while I yelled at them for putting my life in danger.

You couldn't pay me to go there again.

Can you shoot out to 1k yards there? Been trying to find a place to take my .338 out.

Are fully auto guns allowed out there?

It's BLM land, anything you legally own is allowed. So if you legally own a full auto have at it.

Is it currently closed because of fire risk?

I was there about 4 weeks ago. It was open and operating as usual. It is just dirt everywhere. The only "fire risk" is the abandoned junk TVs & cardboard.

Were others there? What did you fire at?

There are way better places to go other than Hodge road. Just get off the beaten path and away from the freeway.

                            I'm curious about this question
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Hodge Road land is actually privately owned, not BLM land. Who owns it is not clear to me, but maps show that it is not BLM and BLM has confirmed this. Of course, this raises other legal issues regarding permission to shoot on someone's private land, but so far no one has ever complained as far as I have heard.
