    I've heard of people doing this at electronic stores when you walk out with a laptop box but not at a gun show. If someone were following me at a gun show or acting weird. I'd go back inside, call police, and finger them out.

    They usually try to be all lubby-dubby and say things like 'hey, thats a cool (object), what brand is it? I was thinking of getting similar'

    Then they follow you home. I actually know someone whose done that. It was an ibook.

      Funny you mention that. A few years back, I felt uncomfortable walking out of the mall with a new ($1000.00) MacBook. I was back at the same Apple store a little over a year ago and bought a MacBook Pro ($2,000.00). I made sure I took my backpack with me and put the computer in the backpack before I left the store.

        I had some little thuged out punk teenagers try some crap at a San Jose gun show maybe 10-15 years ago. I had my hands full carrying mostly ammo I just bought and they were trying to entice my around the corner with some stupid angle like "yo, follow us we got the real gun show going on over here" I could have handled them both but I had other things that I wanted to get done that day.

        Normally I don't gamble but I am willing to bet these two jokers are either dead by now or in the can somewhere as I type this.

          Good eye though i usually dont talk about what i bought with strangers. it is mostly a get what you wanted get a good deal, and where kinda thing. Did you tell the police. i know Del mar has a sheriff at the front gate and walking around the show.

              Today I went to the Costa Mesa Crossroads Gun Show and was followed to my car by two very suspicious men. They tried to ask me questions about what I had purchased (which was some boxes of ammo) and followed me to my car. I did not get a good feeling about these guys. I told them to stand back and leave me alone because I did not know them and they were making me nervous. One guy then said he had a concealed weapon permit and was carrying a loaded gun. I told him to leave me alone and they finally walked away. When I went back inside to return a cart to the ammo booth they warned me that there were several instances of people being followed and robbed. Even 3 home invasion robberies were reported after the last show up in San Francisco of people being followed home.
              Please be careful and watch your 6 out there if you buy anything at the gun shows with value. There are some scary people with bad intentions out there willing to steal from you. If these guys were cops, they sure did not have any manners. I doubt they were.
              Please pass this along to any friends that may be going to the shows. Hopefully this message will make you more aware and stop something from happening to you.
              I'm not doubting your experience at the show, but if there would have been even one HI robbery related to the Cow Palace shows I would be aware of it.

              No reports in my department.

              Anywhere you do business for high dollar or high theft appeal items you should be aware of what's going on around you, and who's on the set watching.

                You're right about that.

                Too many people are so busy walking around on their phones or headphones on, tuning the rest of the world out to the point of losing their situational awareness.

                        I don't think so. BATF would be breaking the law by announcing that they had a CCW and were carrying. Too bad you didn't have a nice digital camera. You could have posted their photo on the net.
