Sounds just like an 18-year-old's gun collection.

...except what about the pistol grip 12 gauge shotgun?!

there was also a kushnapup saiga 12. itll need a maglock before it can come to CA. I dont really like pg shotguns, though i do think a belt fed super shorty 870 would be about the coolest thing ever

For what it costs to transfer the guns, can't you just drive there and pick them up? Avoids the paperwork and CA BS. They are ALREADY yours.

Was thinking i would fly out there and drive home with them as i think i'm going to have to get them from the police in person. I think he is going to try to authorize me to receive his guns as well and those will have to be declared or whatever you do to bring a gun into ca. Not all of them are dros'd to me. Some where bought in idaho and are either dros'd to my dad or were a private sale. I was going to call meridian police whenever i wake up tomorrow and get the ball rolling with them

I think i have to have them all shipped to a dealer, pay the transfer fee and do the 10 day wait again, correct? does anyone have any ideas about whether i can get the obrez back in ca since its off roster? im 18 so i really dont know much about buying handguns here.
How about just going to Idaho and pick them up from the Police and bring them home yourself.....you took them up there yourself.....should be able to bring them back yourself....

Idaho is not California. I would have no idea what their release procedures and guidelines are.

If this bust had happened in Cali, however, it is highly likely the firearms would be held as evidence until the drug charges were decided. And if a conviction occurred, the guns would be seized as contraband and destroyed since the person possessing them couldn't get them back. If the guns were owned by a third party (you, for instance), you'd have to make a pretty compelling case as to why you allowed a controlled substance user to store, possess and have access to your firearms. And then, MAYBE, you could get a court order for their return...

...AFTER you went through the DOJ firearms release background and got your gold-seal letter. In Idaho, ho! Who knows. Maybe the cops will just give them back to you with a lecture.

Sorry to hear about your troubles OP. I would ask the PD in ID how you can go about getting your guns returned. If it is something simple, then plan a trip to go get them. Also, do your firearms laws research for both states on your own, then if you still have specific questions on something, come back to CalGuns and search the appropriate section for applicable threads. If you still aren't sure, then post your questions and one of the experts will chime in to help. There is a lot of useful information here. Just realize that not everyone who responds will know the RIGHT answer to every question. Good luck and keep us posted OP.

On Idaho guns are not DROS'd or registered, if they're your's they're your's, that simple.
