    Jury Duty

I got called for jury duty on a car jacking/attempted murder case. One of the questions was "Who has never fired a firearm?" Very few said they had not. Most were women, but the majority of them said their husbands owned guns.

Only one anti and I'm pretty sure he was anti for the purpose of not being selected. Then there were a couple of guys that made feeble attempts of professing to be firearm experts, again to get dismissed. One said he even knew how to hold a gun. LOL. Damn there are a lot of idiots amongst us. One guy said he had a negative experience with law enforcement once when he was photographing children at a playground. LEO's showed up, took his camera and looked at all the pictures then asked him to leave. Somehow he just seemed to fit the molester stereotype in my mind. Pretty entertaining day and a half listening to Q&A with prospective jurors. Interesting how few people had never handled a firearm.

Some humorous food for thought there.

Did you get selected or are you still in the prospective pool?

I got picked for next week. Not looking forward to it one bit. Most of the time they release me. I know what to say...

Last time I was in the box on a shooting case that occurred in my old neighborhood.

                  Got kicked off for:

                  1)NRA member
                  2)Owning guns
                  3)Disliking gang members

The only thing that surprised me was that 3 people got kicked off before I did.

This I would agree with. Here's the problem with that.

DAs don't want us on juries where the defendant is a regular guy who popped some jackass who was trying to rob him/break into his home because we'll vote not to convict.

Defense attys. don't want us because we'll vote to fry a recidivist offender/gangbanger/career criminal and stupid people who do stupid stuff.

I don't really try to get out of jury duty, the truth usually gets me excused.

I just ended a 3.5 week murder trial where I was the jury foreman. What a case, husband shot his wife in the head ( hard contact wound ). I was surprised that most perspective jurors were asked multiple firearms questions by both attorneys, mainly people said they owned guns but never used them. I did not offer up that I am licensed to CCW however I did say I was a life member of the NRA and certified RSO. I was picked...

Never been on a jury in my life. Didn't even get to guns,as soon as they ask
about employment and you have a career at big oil youre excluded faster then guns. I was surprised once about aDUI case that resulted in death, where
HALF the people in the pool had been affected in some way by drunk
                          driving,either directly or indirectly. Pete

Seems an odd one to get booted for. If you didn't have an opinion either way you'd probably be too stupid to understand the question, and if you liked gang members you'd probably deserve to be in jail yourself...

I was surprised by the number of people who had been directly involved in domestic violence, and drunk driving as well.
