There is more than one GFOS?!? That's not good. I thought the craptastick one in Vacaville was enough.

GFOS, Canyon Sports and Turners would love nothing more than if you all did your PPT's somewhere else. That's why they do what they do.
We should use them exclusively for PPT'S. And buy new somewhere else.

The last PPT I did (HK P2000sk 9mm) came with everything as it came with new including the HK branded lock---I had done several PPTs at this store before and the guns that came with their orig. locks were good to go---now they told me I MUST purchase a lock as the Govt. powers that be discovered that they were checking and the store had not sold near enough locks to match up with the number of PPTs (!)---so I paid for another lock---when I picked-up the pistol, I took it home and no new lock was delivered with it just the HK lock---BFD---I've got a whole box full of locks I never use...

Next time have the seller write on the receipt $5 for gun lock, if it's the original that was included with the gun. (And knock $5 off the gun price).

Better yet, go somewhere else next time.
            Sorry, not sorry.

Shops really need to have a "buy a lock, return a lock" bin, and give all the money to a pro 2A charity.

Safe affidavit does not work for handguns. And are you sure that the lock it came with is CA DOJ approved?

Factory locks sold with guns in CA are CA DOJ approved. And I guarantee the morons at GFOS couldn't tell the difference if it wasn't.

This is just another example of a known scumbag FFL forcing customers to buy something with a PPT.

PPT. OP didn't specify make/model. How do we even know it was ever on roster?

Stop being so dense JDay. Why don't you tell us what OEM locks provided with handguns in the U.S. are not CA DOJ approved since you can't let go of this ridiculous point.

Surely you must know they exist otherwise you wouldn't have brought it up right?

There are plenty of OEM locks that aren't on the list. It is not my responsibility to list them for you. Do you even know what make/model the lock that the OP received is? Unless you do you are making blind assumptions.

Kahr's little two-piece trigger locks don't qualify. Dealers need to remove them and provide one that does. There are others esp. trigger lock types.

                                Ok you got me there.

But is that what the manager told him? Read the first post again. Manager said he had to show proof he bought the lock in the last 30 days. Which we all know isn't required if the gun comes with one.

He could have EASILY said it wasn't approved if that was actually the case.
