For those that want to live in a place were the citizens cannot own guns, there are about 190 other countries to pick from. I suggest those that want that to select one of them to live in.

[QUOTE=Gem1950;16531057][QUOTE=Gem1950;16524416]1) Members here like to label anti's as Liberals etc. - and vice versa but many of the anti's I know vote R.
I disagree. The initial comment was "...you liberals who are running the state..." So, unless you are a government officeholder, the comment would not appear to be directed at you personally. That said, honest answers to the questions I asked would show that the liberals running the state ARE crapping all over our 2nd amendment rights. All liberals? Perhaps not, but the vast majority? Hell yes.

maybe I will ask that question to my daughter's fiance...I raised her so well, I was so proud of her and her shooting abilities, even her fiance who has gone shooting with me is a pretty good shot...yet..he is the biggest ANTI gun person I have ever met in person. He only went shooting with me because it was the polite thing to do after I invited him while he was still only a boyfriend, now that he is fiance, he has changed his tune on guns and wants them all confiscated. Including mine and my daughters, she did non-politely inform him that he can want that all he wants, she will keep her guns because she really believes the line "when seconds counts, the police are minutes away" that really upset him because he really believes only the police should have guns because they are trained, i tried to use facts on him but that didn't work and their wedding is still on.sigpic

Start referring to him as your future-ex-son-in-law. Unfortunatley, I suspect that's where this will eventually end.maybe I will ask that question to my daughter's fiance...I raised her so well, I was so proud of her and her shooting abilities, even her fiance who has gone shooting with me is a pretty good shot...yet..he is the biggest ANTI gun person I have ever met in person. Anyone who ignores logic, is willing to surrender fundamental liberties, and believes in government reliance is not a good candidate.
Good luck. I suspect you'll need it. I don't envy your predicament."Show me a young conservative and I'll show you a man without a heart. Show me an old liberal and I'll show you a man without a brain." - Sir Winston Churchill

Don't forget that many anti's equate guns with hunting and more specifically killing. They believe what they see in movies.1) Members here like to label anti's as Liberals etc. - and vice versa but many of the anti's I know vote R.
2) It's damn near impossible to counter the fear of firearms in some people. The gentle and the genteel will never warm up to the necessity of guns.
3) Best thing one can ask a person of the anti persuasion is if there was social chaos and a breakdown of order, would they disdain the gun owner's offer of protection or not.
4) In light of #3 I try to explain that, aside from the sundry recreational aspects, guns are primarily an instrument of protection.
The only way to convert an anti is:
1. Take them shooting
2. The zombie apocalypse
3. A horrible life changing event (robbery, witness murder, etc.)
and the only guaranteed one is the apocalypse.
Most anti's are irrational and do not want to listen to reason, statistics and truth. If they do then they usually are not anti's for very long.Gun control is a 1" group at 500 yds!Comment

That's cool. Next time someone says - "You a**holes!" to you, you can rest assured that he wasn't referring to you.I disagree. The initial comment was "...you liberals who are running the state..." Most anti's will not have an answer to exactly when gun ownership should have stopped in the past. That is because them being against gun ownership has nothing to do with the US's development having gone beyond some kind of need for firearms. Their fear of firearms is more personal.
Generally they see themselves as not being responsible enough to handle a firearm. These are the people that need warning labels on everything, and think it is a great idea that their car beeps at them if they forget their seat belt. They then project their same insecurities and feelings of fear and incapability on others, assuming everyone else is just like they are.
The anti's though that will have an answer to the OP's question are the statist elite anti's. They live in their gated communities, and while flying back from a shopping trip in London they wonder why America is such a backwards place. They think of you as the little people with little irrelevant lives that are a dime a dozen. The protection of the little people means nothing to them. Gun ownership for them should have ended when their family stopped being one of the little people. They won't say it like that because of their own feelings of guilt for being one of the haves instead of the have nots, and instead point to some era in the past. These are the people that support gun control to show everyone else they want to do good, again partly because of their own guilt.Last edited by stix213; 06-30-2015, 3:59 PM.Comment
