63 here. Most rifles and shotguns are no issue (yet). Handguns are another matter; my wrists are no messed up from arthritis I can barely shoot a 617 with only my left (weak side) hand. Thankfully, the right wrist seems to be holding up. Only 44spl's from my 629 now. A friend offered to let me try a round or two from his .500 S&W last month----I had to decline.

    Being north of
70 has definite advantages: I was able to do all my stupid stuff before video cameras, smartphones, utube, and the internet.

I'm 57 and just the opposite. When I was younger the recoil from my 300 and 7 mags seemed like a lot but now the 375 H&H feels like a 30.06 to me and the 45.70 and 458 Win mag just feel brisk.

I am older than you OP and I finally got a 30-06 a couple of years back.
The recoil keeps me from using it as much as I thought I would, but I always wanted one so I will keep it.

I always told people that the claims of hard recoil from 12 gauge shotguns were BS, but I recently took mine out to the range and it seems to have gotten stronger since the last time.

I'm 70 and starting seriously shooting trap with a Browning Citori last year... had to add recoil and cheek pads it beat me up so bad. Now it's fine though.

Just got into shooting shotguns in my early 50's so it's hard to tell about the age and recoil thing. I've taken it for granted that it's going to feel like a bit of a hammering with my 12 ga shotguns.

After today, I may invest in one of the shoulder pads, as my Coach Gun packed a punch! But that gun was so much fun to shoot!

Low base loads for 12 gauge or a fine 28 gauge. You guys are old, you can afford a 28 gauge.

Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

The limbsaver recoil pads make a world of difference on my Moss 590A1 and my 30-06. Slight (very slight) soreness after multiple buckshot and slugs but no more bruising. Makes shooting them fun again.
