Do they make 5.11 clothes in fat sizes? I don't even know what 5.11 means I looked it up once out of curiosity but I forget.

They make the khaki tan pants you always seen the various feds on tv wearing. You know, the ones with all the pockets and the black belt with the weird looking D clip repelling type of belt buckle? The new kids all wear that crap off duty. Screams cop, or wannabe.Comment

I know what 5.11 clothes are but I forget what 5.11 means. Turners sells that line of clothes. Talking about zombie BS all the time, buying zombie clothes and ammo, being really in to froglube, I feel those are mall ninja risk factors as well.Last edited by I Swan; 06-22-2015, 1:43 AM.Comment

I read their explanation once as to why they chose a particular yds rating from the middle of the scale to name their company after. Just really strange. I'm paraphrasing here, but they were basically saying "5.11 is where rock climbing starts getting really difficult and mere mortals...extreme...only professionals...extreme...blah blah blah"
I've grown up in and currently live in Yosemite and have been a rock climber since I was a kid and I thought it was just really weird, untrue, and strange.
Like, some meathead jocks went to a climbing gym a few times, pulled on some plastic (NOT rock climbing) and thought they found some obscure bit of trivia to name their company after or something.
Just really strange. But whatever."Show me a hero and I'll write you a tragedy."

figures why all the old guys who are working SWAT after they retired from the military call it that. I was taught to call it kit, so thats what i go with. but then again, im not in the military, i just had a buddy who did some cool training work and offered me a job doing the same.Originally posted by KestryllThis guy is a complete and total idiot.

Lasers are like squirt guns you just cant miss. lol3)- Guilty as charged hahaha I don't keep the light on, but I might run a couple mags to stay used to it. I normally plink without the light on my Sig but it wears a light when home as my HD gun its nice to shoot a bit and practice turning the light on/off.
My peeve? Lasers. I don't get it. I find them WAY too slow to use effectively. If it was like in the video games, where you have a solid line to your target then maybe, but I've never seen that in real life.Comment

It is rock climbing related.
Climbs are rated based on difficulty, 1 being flat ground, and 5 being vertical cliff. The original system topped out at 5.10, but was redone when more technical climbs were being done and the system was made open ended, so now a 5.11 or a 5.12 climb are possible.
Personally, I have only done about 5.7/5.8 climbs. Lots of good handholds and footholds. Very few fingertip holds.Last edited by Decoligny; 06-22-2015, 12:49 PM.sigpic

It tops out somewhere around 5.15c/d at this point, which is fairly amazing. Read my last post above yours. It is rock climbing related.

I could terrify any technically skilled rock climber who wanted to follow me on some obscure, long and unprotected 5.8 offwidths in the valley. It's so subjective."Show me a hero and I'll write you a tragedy."
