I find myself learning more and strengthening my belief when I debate someone. Talking about 2nd Amendment rights to people in gun shops or here is like a circle jerk. How do you guys find anti-gun folks and get them talking about guns? It's a touchy subject for many, so it's not very common small talk. Any tips on how to get the conversation started? The goal is to flip one person at a time. I'm not ready to take on a parent who's child was shot with a gun or something. I'm looking for people who haven't taken the time to learn about the issue and formed their opinion from the biased media, which should be the general public.

It's really easy to rip their arguement to shreads when you use common sense logic.There are 3 kinds of people in this world.

HAH~!!!! That's what I do almost all day. I got that one lady to go to the range, and got my co workers into it too. Coffee shops are iffy places though, lefties like to hang out there in groups and talk about how great their ideas are. They are usually the loudest in a shop. Be careful though, they can get militant. I keep hearing "give peace a chance" from the same guy everyday when I talk to certain regulars about firearms. Its annoying too because, he automatically assumes that I want to harm someone or something. Even though explaining my viewpoints to him over and over, nothing gets through that hippie crap that his head is loaded with. Hes a nice guy, just really annoying. If you frequent a shop, eventually you'll mingle with other regulars. Thats the best way to begin.

i know what you mean i get the most evil looks when talking to my woman about how a 1911 is not good for her just because its "cute" or debating whats a good weapon for HD for different people and living environments at coffee shops or even at a taco bell one time some guy asked me to shut up about my 'death machines'Coffee shops are iffy places though, lefties like to hang out there in groups and talk about how great their ideas are. You might want to have a go at writing letters to the editor to as many newspapers as possible.
I'll admit it it - I'm burned out on trying to "convince" anti's of anything.
Having been involved in the debate for so many years - 60's to today - I've just about had it. I will say that post-Heller, it's fun to have something so soild and definitive to ram up an anti's fundemental.
I'd rather donate money to pro Second Amendment orgs than waste my time and energy trying to educate (for the most part) fools.Comment

Good God man if you're in any "civilized" area of CA (i.e. w/i 20 miles of the coastline) jut open your window, step outside or say hello to the next person you meet. Statistically, the person you meet is very likely to not own or want a gun, never fired a gun and probably would prefer the same for YOU.Comment

No but seriously like the other guys said, coffee shops, college/university, anything that has to do with the current educational system, they're all over the place. I wouldn't necessarily search them out though, just wait till it comes to you, and it will.Comment

Buy a shirt with a progun emblem on it - a little "Smith & Wesson" embroidered on the left front of a Polo shirt or "NRA" eagle on the pocket of a T shirt then walk about a city a bit. You'll probably get a remark or two. I have a Smith Polo shirt and wear it quite a bit. Don't get many comments and what I have heard was positive, but I'm told I'm not a very approachable person. had an experience with a co-worker...he's an anti...i asked him...if his mom's home was broken into, and the crook had a gun or weapon of some sort, wouldn't he wish he had a gun to fend off the bad guy? he said "NO"
so i asked what would he do to help his mom? or run away...he said "he'd run away"
and i said "you're eeeeeeeffffffeeeedddd up! and a coward"
