Does your LGS require a safe handling demonstration?

Just wondering, because I've bought quite a few guns this year so far, and I think I've only had to do a safe handling demonstration once. Is it not required by law that dealers do this? I've bought guns from 4 different gun shops this year, and the one which made me do a safe handling demonstration made me do it for both a pistol and a lower receiver. The only other time I've had to do a safe handling demonstration is the very first pistol I ever purchased.

So, do you normally have to do a safe handling demonstration at your LGS?

Usually only if the LGS doesn't already know me.

I believe it is required . My guess is you demonstrate it with out realizing it . My guess is when they bring the gun out for you to inspect before you take it home . You handle it racking the slide , open the cylinder , check the mag release etc etc . All that just to check the gun and make sure nothings happen to it in the 10 days you had to wait . If I was the clerk and saw you do all that safely . I'd call that good and likely would not even say anything about a safe handling demonstration .

Yes when I bought the CZ 75 C. Close call, just barely passed. Next time I'll wait till the owner is out. Helps to pull the hammer back!

It's the law. Yes, all LGS are required to ask you to do safety demo. My LGS always does
With exemption: leo, ccw

I had to show the guys at the counter how to operate a K31. Bolt and mag removal, safety operation and put it back together.

Interesting responses. Yeah I guess it does depend on how often you're in there, and how well you handle the gun while checking it out. Probably also depends on the mood of the dealer that day. I've been in my local LGS quite a few times and I'm pretty sure they mostly know me by face. Last time I had to do a demonstration it was my first purchase from the shop I was at.

Hilarious.... that was my first thought. Adopt blatant "I'm one of you" name implying reference from the script of "American Sniper", rack up just enough posts to look worthy, then launch into "Hey you guys, what is up with X_X_X_X?"

In any case, do you have any idea how many times it was ME that had to show the salesperson/LGS how the gun handgun actually worked? You put an Arrizabalaga JoLoAr, COP-4, Wildey, or Mateba Unica in front of even many of the most avid and versed gun owners or dealers, and they look at the thing with a puzzled look and often have never even seen one in person.
