Most popular guns in CA?

Really as much as I hate it but this is capitalism. Love it and hate it, he has every right to do it.
OP, buy as many off rosters as you can afford. Once you moved in and settled, register them than profit.

This will benefit everyone. Who cares if he makes a profit....he's also providing a service and giving us poor Kalifornians more gun options. I'd buy a bunch of glock 43's, and a couple of high end 1911's. Glock 43's will be easy to dump on the market and I know the demand is high. Off roster smith and Wesson shields in both 9mm and 40 cal would also be nice to have here in Cali. Please do us a favor and bring us off roster guns.

Hello, I am new to the forum, and will be moving to CA in the near future. I am a fan of guns, and have been slowly making my collection CA legal.

What would you say are the most popular guns in CA? It may be silly of me, but I like to plan for everything when I purchase a new gun. Are parts available, will I find others familiar with it, is the caliber popular, can magazines be found, and, in a morbid sense, if things became the Wild West, would the gun I have be popular enough to find magazines and such?

Any ideas you have, personal observations from the range, or opinions, would be welcome.

I'm not wanting to start an argument, only put forth my opinion. Yes, stocking up on everything is what I like to do, if only to continue shooting during an ammo scare. But my home stockpile will do me no good if I head to a friends house because riots are near me, if I need to relocate due to weather, or if I (as the fantasy dictates) need to bug out as quickly as possible.
Possibly the reason that my relationships don't always advance is because I like to consider every possible angle.

So I could buy guns that are not on the roster, and legally sell them in CA? What sort of markup would one expect, and does anyone know what's in high demand? I wouldn't mind making an investment, making some money, and giving someone something that they want, but can't have.

I will further speculate that given the lack of disclosure, you and your work may not be pro gun / 2nd amendment / RTKBA!!

Do this. EVERYBODY will suggest a glock 17/19..... Except me. I hate them. I'd rather suggest an XD or M&p and I'm not too favorable to those. I like metal guns that feel like a gun. Not a toy.

Get the off roster guns that will make you the most money or that you will treasure/enjoy the most. And dont get all one type of gun. Try to get some AR or AK pistols, 1911's, CCW micropistols like the Sig 290RS or the Ruger LCR9.

Be advised that lots of cops buy the most popular guns and regularly sell them, and the current flavors of the months are Sig 320, HK VP9 and Glock 43 so despite them all being off roster, demand for those will actually have some supply for you to compete with. If you are selling stuff that nobody else has, you can probably get a better price.

BE CAREFUL WITH RIFLES!! Make sure to check the BANNED list, this is CA and stupidity rules. Some AR15 rifles are banned by name, check yours and if they are on the ban list buy some new lowers and sell the old ones to family or friends out of state.

Like the others said above, check the handgun roster and if you had been thinking of getting something and it is not on the list you better get it before you come here, think draco and the like.

"Bane" was taken, and I currently have my first fiction short story in for consideration. Writing has been a recent hobby that I'm interested in pursuing along with an education in engineering.
I consider my location to be irrelevant, since I'm not currently in CA.
As I said in my very first post on this forum, and thread, I'm new. Hence the low post count. I've not contributed to any other threads because, as I said, I'm not currently in CA. So I feel that any advice or knowledge I could impart wouldn't be too in line with this forum.
If you would look again to the first question I posed, then you will see the question for which I am seeking a response. I've read every reply, and said a general "thank you" to anyone who has written a response, and asked questions where I have questions.

You can speculate all you like, but in doing so, you're only alienating someone who was raised in California, and intending to go back, and also putting a sour taste in their mouth. I really don't appreciate that and I find your actions to be both immature, and offensive. I sincerely hope that you are not on the welcoming committee.

Edit--- I've got no problem with it myself. It's just the way he stated it runs afoul of the ATF rules on it. I know a guy that works for the ATF and that's what he spends his day looking for. He compares how many 4473s you do versus your online sales listings.

Well I buy/sell/trade guns regularly where I am now, and if I could get my hands on some off roster pistols in my regular dealings, I wouldn't mind taking time to see if I like them, and take them to CA, and if I dislike them, then what trouble would there be in selling one every month or so?

That really makes a lot of sense. It's both a way to make money, and helpful to the market.
