    Most popular guns in CA?

Hello, I am new to the forum, and will be moving to CA in the near future. I am a fan of guns, and have been slowly making my collection CA legal.

What would you say are the most popular guns in CA? It may be silly of me, but I like to plan for everything when I purchase a new gun. Are parts available, will I find others familiar with it, is the caliber popular, can magazines be found, and, in a morbid sense, if things became the Wild West, would the gun I have be popular enough to find magazines and such?

Any ideas you have, personal observations from the range, or opinions, would be welcome.
    Thanks for your time.

Glock 9mm. Even I have ONE of the damn things.. a Glock 19 which I think is "best of breed".

Even though you need to limit the usefulness of an AR15 with a bullet button or a silly stock, it's more popular than the Mini series, AK47's (and sporter stock AK's) M1 Carbines, Garands, and the M1A?

Not very surprising that Glocks are the most popular.

if things became like the wild west, i don't believe you'd have an easy time finding magazines and such for anything, whether it be popular or not. find the gun(s) that will meet your needs best and stock up on the parts, accessories and ammo that you deem to be necessary.

I see a lot of AR 15's and I think Remington 700's. Handguns are hard to say because each person has a personal preference and there are so many options. I do see Glocks though and I have a Springfield XD.

I'm not wanting to start an argument, only put forth my opinion. Yes, stocking up on everything is what I like to do, if only to continue shooting during an ammo scare. But my home stockpile will do me no good if I head to a friends house because riots are near me, if I need to relocate due to weather, or if I (as the fantasy dictates) need to bug out as quickly as possible.
Possibly the reason that my relationships don't always advance is because I like to consider every possible angle.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but if you're still living outside of CA and are thinking about moving in, take a look at the gun roster... Buy anything that IS NOT on it - because once you're in CA, you will likely be limited to the roster unless you find some SSE guns that are selling for a big premium over what you'd pay now as a non-CA citizen out of state.

Look at the HK VP9 as an example. I see them out of state for $650 all the time, and they're generally in the $1000 range (used) in CA via PPT. Just don't bring any magazines with more than 10-round capacity (block and pin them if you have normal capacity magazines).

As far a rifles go, you can likely find an FFL that will allow you to bring whatever in that you want as long as it has a mag lock and a 10-round mag on it (and 30" OAL minimum). It's much easier to buy things out of state, do the modifications yourself, and bring them in legally with you when you move into the state, though.

If you live out of state don't buy guns common in California. Only stock up on pistols that are not listed on CA Safe Gun Roster.

                        You can thank us later….

Do this. EVERYBODY will suggest a glock 17/19..... Except me. I hate them. I'd rather suggest an XD or M&p and I'm not too favorable to those. I like metal guns that feel like a gun. Not a toy.

It's not like you're moving to England.

I want to reiterate what was said above about buying off-roster and bringing them to CA. Since we can't buy them here, we would appreciate the help and some folks will make it worth your while if you ever decide to sell them.
