As for the ammo, it's going to be "Don't ask, don't tell".
I would ask up front. All ammo shipments are suppose to have a ORM-D sticker. So they will know what it is when they receive it. They (shop) may say no big deal, get it all the time. Others might have a problem with it and reject the shipment.

ORM-D is a marking for mail or shipping in the United States that identifies other regulated materials for domestic transport only. Packages bearing this mark contain hazardous material in a limited quantity that presents a limited hazard during transportation, due to its form, quantity, and packaging.

Any of the outfits will deliver to others stores including the independents

As far as ammo. Often it is shipped in the highly labeled manufactures boxes. It will have the proper markings unless it is from an individual who does not mind risking the legal troubles it can cause. SO that said why would you even chance it. Since nobody else will say it I will: that is just plain stupid on your part.

I've had a UPS Store box for several years. Ammo is fine. Hazmat (powder, primers) is not.

My ammo always is shipped as a box within a generic box with no obvious markings, except for the hazardous material sticker. I use USPS to my office.

Mom and Pop type store is good. No worries about expensive scope you just ordered not being at the front door of your place when you get delivery confirmation by email.
Also they can sign for packages.
            Well worth the money.

I've used all sorts of different mailbox places over the years. The best for general mail and packages will usually be USPS. With the street addressing, they will accept shipments from all the major carriers.

The main benefit is their storage lockers. If you get a package too big to fit in your box, they put it in the locker and leave you the key. You can get your stuff after-hours as long as the main lobby is open.

Other mailbox places may give you 24hr access too. But if you have a package, you're usually out of luck until you come back during business hours.

As for ammo, it's best to check with each individual place for their policies.

I use a UPS store on a pay-as-you-go basis. I don't have a monthly account, I just pay $5 per box. They have no problems with ammo, powders, primers, complete uppers, etc. I don't even need to let them know ahead of time, they'll sign for whatever arrives. UPS, Fedex, USPS, they'll accept deliveries from any of them. And since it's a business address that always gets deliveries, the packages tend to arrive earlier in the day.

I've had powder and primers shipped to my UPS Store box, too. I've never seen a policy that says they won't accept them.

Yeah, I was considering the generic mailbox place, but this $5/box may work too.

                    Thanks for all the suggestions.

When I've bought ammo online it's either come with this sticker:

                      or this.

Sometimes the ORM-D sticker says "Small arms cartridges." They use the same labels when nail polish is shipped since apparently it can't go by air.

I have a box at a UPS store in AZ because I don't want stuff stolen off my door step. It's nice because they will receive and sign for packages for me, then e-mail me when it comes in. I have never had any issues with ammo or anything else shipped there.

                          Umm, not really.

You ain't fooling anyone familiar with shipping regs.

The package is considered hazardous material and has at least one clear ORM-D sticker which is a dead giver-away it is small arms ammunition (based on the weight it cannot be anything else in that category typically). NOTE: I buy a lot of mail-order ammo. Get some!

P.S.: I found this statement on the UPS site which I'll have to research: "Effective January 1, 2021 the ORM-D classification will be obsolete per D.O.T. HM-215K." So it is in the Department of Transportation jurisdiction.

My experience. UPS store will except ammo. I asked directly after I got a box delivered there with ammo once. They said I just couldn't ship ammo from that store.

Fedex is mixed. I used to ship CMP 30 06 to Fedex location and I had the last one rejected (only the system didn't tell me it was rejected..it just kept pushing the date of delivery back until finally it showed it was going back to CMP).
Everyone on Calguns keeps talking about TDS. I never knew we had so many fish keepers!

The TDS on my 10gallon tanks 110ppm
The TDS on my 29 gallon tank is 150ppm (due to substrate)

I use a mom and pop and never have had a problem. Some of the ammo sales outfits will place a plain box over the ammo box for a fee with just the orm-d symbol. Although the wooden crate with rusty bands and Cyrillic might be a give away..

If the option presents itself some have a 24 hour key so your shipment is available. You get a door key and a package cage key and go off hours If ma or pop go home

You would think if it got rejected, it would go back to the "distribution center" and you would be able to pick it up from there. Rather than going all the way back to the vendor.
