I'll try and make this as short as possible, but it probably won't be.
Went to west coast ammo in temecula to do a ppt. I was the seller. The buyer had suggested them, since he lived nearby and I was making the trek from San Diego.
So, we do the transfer and fill out the necessary paperwork. When it comes time to par for the transfer, the employee states it's will be $65. The buying party proceeds to pay. As he's paying, I ask the employee isn't the max you can charge for a PPT $35? He states no, and says that the DROS is $25 and the transfer fee is $30.
I had just read a thread on this exact thing on how someone paid over $35 for a PPT. So I tell the employee, "DROS is fixed at $25, and the max you can charge for the fee is $10." He then goes to tell me that Faith armory down the road charges $90 for PPT. I tell him that turners charges and extra $5 for some mumbo jumbo fee, but it's separate from the overall PPT fee, so that's how they get around that. So, he goes to look it up in the Internet to look up PPT fees, at the same time he texts his boss why they charge $65. A few minutes later he finds on the DOJ site the $25 DROS fee and the $10 max dealer fee. Right after that his boss texts him back and states the additional $30 breaks down to $20 FFL fee and $10 storage fee. Are you kidding me?? They have to hold it for ten days no matter what, and they're gonna charge a storage fee? Wow.
I asked the employee what he thought and he agreed that it's BS that they charge that, but he just works there and says that if it something that they change, he'll refund him the $30.
Other than the ridiculous fee, the guys working there were courteous helpful.
