Police say 47-year-old Jing Wu shot two men and a woman around 4 p.m. at an office complex in Santa Clara, just west of San Jose.

Authorities would not release the name of the business. The gunman remained at large Friday evening as dozens of officers searched for him. He drove off in a sport-utility vehicle, Lt. Mike Sellers said.

Shooter's name supposedly is Jing Wu. I'm about 2 miles from the shooting site, said to be Scott Blvd (close to 101, not far from Reed's Indoor).

Damn, thats just a few blocks from where I work.

You just never know when seemingly normal people will lose it. A few years ago one of my coworkers, and a person my wife knew very well, was murdered by her husband while she slept. Just like that...

All that aside, this business shooting is a good reminder that this type of violence does happen close to home. Until we get the CCW issue resolved in this state we will continue to be sitting ducks.

A recently laid off high-tech employee opened fire inside the Santa Clara office where he used to work late Friday afternoon, killing three people and sparking a massive police dragnet that spread throughout the area.
Santa Clara police identified Jing Hua Wu, 47, of Mountain View as the gunman who shot to death two men and one woman with a handgun before driving off in a silver sport-utility vehicle, believed to be a rented Mercury Mountaineer.
Wu remained at large late Friday, and police warned he should be considered armed and "extremely dangerous."
Friday's violent scene erupted just before 4 p.m. when police say Wu arrived at Siport, a small semiconductor firm at 3255-7 Scott Blvd. and opened fire. Wu apparently had been laid off either Friday morning or Thursday, Santa Clara police Lt. Mike Sellers said.
When police arrived, the gunman already had escaped and was initially believed to be on his way to Mountain View, where police remained outside his home into the night. Other reports indicated he may have been headed to an airport.
The identities of the victims were not released Friday, pending notification of their families.
Siport is a relatively small firm that specializes in developing digital radio semiconductors. It raised at least $20 million in venture capital last year.

the sprawling facility and cordoned off the buildings near Octavius Drive. Workers, meanwhile, huddled inside their offices as police with guns drawn cased the area.
Throughout the night, officers stopped and questioned employees in their vehicles as they left the complex.
And, hours later, employees in neighboring businesses were still shaken.
"I was on the computer and a co-worker was going home, and we heard this commotion," said Linh Nguyen, a mechanical engineer who works next door at Excel Precision. "People were running inside our building, strangers, I didn't know who they were. They were very upset, they looked disturbed and then we then we heard that three people had been shot."
When Nguyen looked outside, he saw armed officers. So Nguyen and others locked their doors and waited.
"It's very unreal to me," said Nguyen, who added he didn't know anyone who worked at Siport. "With all these people being laid off, I mean, I know people are upset, but it's hard to imagine that anyone would do this."
Friday's deaths marked the third, fourth and fifth homicides in a city not accustomed to such spasms of violence.
"It's certainly a tragedy any time someone feels like this is an action they have to take," Santa Clara Police Chief Stephen Lodge said. "These are truly innocent people whose lives were taken. It's just not right."
Wu is described as 5-foot-7 and weighing 170 pounds, with black eyes and black hair.
Anyone who encounters Wu is urged to keep their distance and call Santa Clara police immediately at (408) 615-4700. If Wu is in another city, witnesses should call 911 to reach that city's police department.

Wait a minute? California has some of the most stringent gun laws in the nation. This can't be happening in gun ban paradise where most citizens are not allowed to have an evil concealed carry permit. Didn't the murder suspect get the memo?

It still is.

It doesn't matter where you live, or how "safe" your neighborhood "feels". Sometimes people snap. The s*** gets piled so high and they are unable to see a way out. I'm not making excuses for a evil deed, but who here knows what has been going on in his life?

Maybe he lost his house and his wife split with the kids WHO KNOWS?

The only thing we can do is educate those around us. Don't demonize the the tool, the tool is unable to do anything what so ever, the operator is the one to blame.

Goes to show that anything can happen anywhere, anytime. I'm sure it's still a safe and quiet area, one incident doesn't necessarily drag the whole neighborhood down forever.
