Picking up brass at the range

My brass catcher does a pretty good job catching a majority of my brass. I also pick up the brass from nearby and if my neighbors have a lot of brass piling up in their lanes, I ask and offer to sweep it up out of their way.

I usually don't pick up other people's brass, who knows how many times its already been reloaded.

Same. I only pick up my own brass mostly for the same reason.

Anybody else ever get that occasional clown that shows up at the range without a gun and asks you if you're keeping your brass while you're in the middle of collecting it? I hate that guy.

Or the guy trying to sell you brass as he sees you picking yours up. My response: "No, that's why I'm picking mine up, so I don't have to buy yours!"

Tell that to Prado....

Beaumont indoor range and the range in skid row in LA also want to steal your brass. Also seems the range masters at Angeles are known for being aggressive about stealing brass. At most ranges if they are cool I leave a lot of brass.

If not I don't shoot there or I leave as much useless brass as possible. I'm sorry but no way I'm giving them brass in calibers like 7.5 Swiss revolver or 6.5 Dutch Mannlicher. I'll admit to having left brass on BLM land many times sometimes I've even piled it up in a little hillock in an obvious place. Someone ALWAYS scrounges it up. I think the local tweakers have caught on in many places.

I pick mine up and all the .223 around me unless I'm told to stop.

I pick up all my brass and any that is left lying around when we get there. If someone is shooting I will ask if they save their brass and if not I will pick it up as well.

I always pick up my brass, and I always check range rules before hand, went to a range once even after checking that it was ok by phone the day before.
I went shooting the next day got done and proceeded to pick up MY brass, one of the RO walked up and told me I could not pick up MY brass, he said once it hits the floor it was theirs, I told him it came in with me and it will leave with me and if he had a problem with that to go call a COP. He took a step in my direction, I then told him that would be the biggest mistake of his young life.
He said something under his breath and walked away, I have been back many times and always take my Brass, he never says a word to me.

You paid to go in they got their money. Not your brass? So what, it's not theirs either. They sold the ammo, charged entrance fee, now they want to recycle the leftovers? If they have a brass policy then I dont go back. That's my opinion.

My policy is "I bring it I take it" and pretty much what ever I can get my hands on...

Yeah, I love coming back from hanging targets and finding out that someone else swept up and bagged all my brass

Chabot has the same policy, only pick up your own.

That place has so much brass on the ground, you really can't help pick up other people's occasionally unless you check every headstamp.

That's the problem, especially if its crowded and every lane is taken, then it is almost guaranteed you'll pick up someone else's brass

I always pick up anything reloadable.

If it isn't mine, I'll ask whoever it belongs to before I take it.

FWIW I think Angeles and some other places still say you can't ask others for their brass. Funny how ranges that don't F with me about brass get my business. Another plus is indoor ranges that allow aluminum and steel cases.

I love them whey cry about Wolf for "safety" reasons I'd have more respect for them if they just admitted they're too lazy to use a magnet to sort it out and they want to steal your brass.

I think I remember you mentioning this before I think I know what range and I don't shoot there. What did he plan on doing, snatching the brass away from you? You would think I've seen everything in a lifetime of gun shops, shows and ranges but it only sort of surprises me. I was actually physically threatened in a gun shop before. I've had gun shops owners off their meds or something go batshi* crazy on me too when a minute before they were pleasant without me provoking them in any measureable way.

None have had the balls to draw on me though or touch or advance on me yet. Just ran their mouths.
