    Gun Storage?

I apologize in advance, I'm sure this topic has come up at some point in time. I am deploying sometime within the fall area, and I am going to have nowhere to store my firearms as the person I am currently keeping them with will be moving out of state. What are some of my best options as far as storage goes for the wonderful state of California? I was looking towards Climate controlled storage centers, but I'm not sure if that is a viable option. Is there anyone with experience or have any input?

    Thanks

When I had room I proudly stored motorcycles for people on deployment.
I considered it a very small thank you for their service.
Unfortunately I'm unable to do this with firearms.

Climate controlled storage works. I'd get an alarmed unit and put a safe in there. Grease them up good too.

If you go the storage unit route, ask them if you can pre-pay for the whole length of your deployment, plus maybe an extra month or two just in case. Nothing would be sadder than to turn on your TV and see your guns taken home by some shmuck on Storage Wars.
I don't think a safe is necessary, just make sure it's alarmed and has a heavy duty padlock. Climate controlled is pretty important, but can cost 2x as much. As mentioned, make sure they're oiled up really well, and consider putting your guns in sealed bags like these pistol bags and these longgun bags. Make sure you load them into the storage unit in a container that doesn't scream "Hey everyone, I'm leaving tons of firearms in here" to anyone who happens to be around while you're there.
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

I work for a self-storage company. Trust me when I say DO NOT store firearms in a unit.

Are you saying that self-storage units aren't secure? Or that employees steal stuff? Should we not store anything valuable in one, besides just firearms? Some clarification would be nice...

                        Read a storage locker contract

That's no different than if you had your guns stolen from your home. Unless you include them in your policy you're out of luck.

I was wonder what specifically Aldemar had against storing firearms in a storage unit. As far as I can tell... A gated property with cameras, and a locked unit sounds appealing if you have no other options. As long as you're discrete about it, I don't see what the big worry is. I'd like to hear whatever insider info he has though.

a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. i wouldn't trust the chain of a storage unit location due to the multitude of dependent variables that are integrally necessary for the safe storage of belongings.

                              More info needed

                              Where you at? NorCal, SoCal
                              How long of deployment?
How many guns? pistols or long guns?

When I rented a storage locker, I could pay online, they also sent an email when rent was due. I could of advanced paid too. The place I rented at was clean and had lots of security cams. I used their insurance, but could of gotten my own renters insurance.
Rent a safe deposit box for pistols?
