    Pelican Foam

Thanks. again if you use the polyethylene foam it makes it so much easier as a DIY. it took a while to layout everything and obviously sucks when you start adding things. Notice no scopes or optics? thats why I had to get the larger case but man that thing weighs a ton. I've found that the large rifle case fits everything perfectly as well but it just takes a very long time to lay everything out to fit. but i'm anal like that.

When ordering foam, can I find the size I need by just giving the pelican case model number or do vendors prefer actual measurements? As far as getting things layed out, I don't mind taking my time either. I like things looking nice and orderly. My rifles are pretty much configured the way I'm happy with them so no more changing things......for a while at least.

Did you try calling? I had a case that lost the pressure relief valve and the quickly sent me the replacement part.

they can cut them to fit inside the case as long as you give them the measurements. you may need to make some indent cuts where the wheels are but i don't think they know pelican stuff because they're just a foam supplier. I think there are foam dimensions online from the places that do sell the inserts so you can just link them to that page

If you use the polyethylene you'll want to cut it right at your outline as it will hold the firearm very firmly and tight. If you cut inside the outline like you would on polyurethane it will be pretty hard to get it in and out because it's too firm. if you have extra do a test run first. also if you do put anything on the lid of the case you have to make sure that the firearm is held tightly as it will keep falling loose when you open the case and you'll also need to use double sided tape or something to adhere the foam to the lid because that will come loose too when you open the case. Just be patient and take your time. it took me 2-3 hours per case but as I said I'm anal like that and being a cabinet maker/wood worker you measure 2-3 times and cut once.

I believe that's the place I got the foam for my cases from as well. Now that I think about it the price wasn't too bad it was just the shipping that was high. So high that it was actually cheaper to drive to LA instead of having it shipped. Especially since I needed three sets.
