    Living On a Range

Just curious to see how many other's would love to live on a gun range, say like Sacramento valley shooting center. My wife and i had a small laugh,
we were looking all over town for a house to rent in the next few months and have no luck in finding what we want, something small and simple. Any way
the weekend came and as usual we were off to the range for a fun day of shooting and as we came around the pond at the range we both said this is the place to live. Jokingly..... Or not! we started laughing at how we would fall asleep to the noise of the range and the smell of gun powder lol.

Hope i'm not the only one who dreams of shooting even whale at work all day long.

man i cant wait for saturday!!

While I have no desire to spend ALL my waking hours with the sound of gunfire (been-there-done-that-got-the-tshirt) I do know the house closest to our local range (200ish yards away) was bought by a guy specifically due to the proximity.

On edit: This is not to say that I wouldn't enjoy having a personal range on my own property that I could use any time I felt like it.

Get a ranch on the range and you can shoot prairie dogs all day

Easy. Just move out of this state and buy a little land next to Hickok45.

It's on our list of possible retirement ideas.

Move out of state and buy a small ranchero just outside town and set up a shooting range. Spend my days collecting range fees, shooting and shooting the ssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhop talk.

            Could do a lot worse.

You don't want to end up like the gunsmith I worked for when I was in college. He was around firearms all day long and didn't want to look at one or go shooting at all in his off time. Too much of a good thing I guess.

I would move if i didn't have a great job. But still wish there was some land that was reasonable we could drive a RV or Mobil up on. Looking to buy at one point but prices skyrocketed in the last couple years.

some of the bigger ranges actually have a caretaker that lives in a trailer of some sort on the range.

Actually, when driving into Sac Valley you noticed there are a couple of modular/trailer-type homes at the entrance drive! A couple of the manager types do, indeed, live there full time!

Not me. I love to shoot but there are times I do not need the constant sounds of firearms. We had a ranch when I was growing up and I could shoot anytime I wanted but I did it mostly away from the house so not to make mom mad. The ranch was 1/2 mile long so that helped.

I stayed at my dads a few weeks ago. He got up to see I was shooting my .22 off his porch. Private range...yep! Public, not me.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

I would think it terrible to be hearing gunfire all day long. Just horrible. I value peace and quiet at my home and if there's any shooting going on, it would be me or people I know. Living at or near a range seems like a cool idea but it would get really old in very short order.
