Sig Sauer P226 Airsoft vs. The Real Thing [pictures]

Bear in mind I know donut hole about airsoft...

A couple of months ago Sig was running a promotion offering their airsoft replicas for $100.00 with the purchase of a Sig Sauer classic pistol. The regular price for their airsoft is $258.00. I figured, if it comes from Sig Sauer its probably high quality.

This is my first (and only) airsoft gun. Although it is NOT made by Sig it's actually pretty cool, it's the same size and the same weight and it's Gas blowback.
    LINK.

It is made by KJWORKS. It comes in a small plastic case with a loader, a cleaning rod and about 50 6mm plastic BB's. It is powered by green gas. When I went to buy the green gas the guy told me to use propane instead and he sold me an adapter. Apparently the propane is cheaper and runs the gun better than green gas. So I bought a 16 oz. can of propane for $3.00 that will probably last me for 5 years. The magazine holds 24 rounds and it shoots a lot harder than I expected. Its surprisingly accurate too. The down side is that it needs to be filled with propane after about 24 shots (but it only takes 2 seconds to refill.)

It gets boring pretty fast but I think it will be very useful to get my girlfriend comfortable shooting a hand gun. Its an excellent training tool.

        DS,

Please don't post what 900 FPS does to teeth or skin...

Your airsoft is great for practicing things like shooting from a holster in your garage.

What exactly is that, some kind of James Bond action? 42 grains is almost 3 grams.

It's a barrel shroud from talon tunes. Perfectly legal as it has no way of attaching to a firearm.

I'd be afraid to have an Airsoft gun identical to a real gun; seems way too plausible that someone might get confused and cause a tragic accident.

Very unlikely for most of us, but, you know...

If you cant tell from the pictures then I have no idea. Ive seen this model (I think its the same one) at a couple of other sites for around $100.00 and the guy I spoke with at the airsoft store said it was about mid range on the quality scale. I don't think its milled.

As long as it's just a shroud. BATFE doesn't care if it can attach to a firearm in its present form or not. Years ago they stomped on airgun and paintball suppressors... If you make or have a tube with baffles over another tube that's designed to quiet a projectile down, that's a suppressor, period.

Tony from Talon Tunes I'm sure wouldn't be selling them if they weren't legal. He's been one of the leaders in Talon and Condor mods for many years now.
