ffl that wont do ppt

Now let me begin by saying that i am not here to bash anyone but only to gain knowledge, with that being said let me begin, today i met with a fellow calgunner to do a ppt we had discussed meeting at lax shooting range. It was my idea since it was a nice middle ground for us. I have never done a ppt there before and i looked into it and they are a ffl and from what i had understood is that all ffls had to do ppts. So i arrived talked to the guy and he told me he does do ppts, but only for law enforcement..... am i wrong with my assumption or since he technically does do ppts does he have the right to refuse the service to the general public? I guess next time i will do my research better luckily the calgunner i met today was extremely patient and a all out great guy and we went to another shop.

from my understanding, FFLs have to do PPTs since you can't do them through anyone else.

They're required to do them by law, during normal business hours. They are agents of the state.

Guns Fishing and other stuff will do anything they can to get out of doing one. Even if you walk in there, if someone comes in behind you and wants to buy a firearm they will toss you aside to help the other person.

They are required to do them by law. The only out is they don't have to do handguns if they don't sell handguns.

It was for a rifle and they didnt even bother to ask they just said no. Oh well at least a lesson learned. I thought my assumption was correct.

There's a gun shop in El Cerrito, Old West Gun Room, that hates doing PPT's, so much that you have to make an appt and that it takes approx. 2 hrs to make the transfer.

Yes, I get that all shops "should do a ppt" but as a responsible buyer/seller shouldn't you call ahead and make sure all is good to go?

Just good business practice IMO.

No. They're required by law to do them whenever they're open. If they don't want to do PPTs they should go into a different line of business. In fact it was the FFLs in this state who supported the law that mandated we do transfers via PPT.

I did a PPT recently at a shop in LA and the guy behind the counter complained how he doesn't make $$ and what a pain the PPT's are...made us feel real good. Keep in mind there was NO ONE in the shop and it took him over an hour, between watching the TV and selling me a $10 lock...oh well, live and learn and don't go back.

I've never had a good experience at LAX. Rat them out
