Is it worth it to trade?

Hey Calgunners,

I recently came across a BNIB Saiga 7.62x39 in a Sporting configuration, My older brother offered me a Sig Sauger P220 Diamond Plate. He wants to trade straight across.

Is it worth it... taking into consideration that Saiga's are no longer for sale in shops and people are most likely not going to sell them for a while.

What do you guys think?
And don't say "He's your brother do it"... He was a master prankster growing up.

I have never shot a P220, I have an SP2022 in a .40 and love it. I do want another .45 to accompany my Glock 21. I think I am going to trade him.

They are going to make American rifles, with American parts made to American specs (read: nothing like a Saiga) here and call them Kalashnikovs.

As such I wouldn't take that trade unless you just really don't like AKs. In 5 years from now Saigas will be mythic items like the Norinco and Polytechs of yore. P220s, not so much.

Personally I find the diamond plate sigs to be hideous, but if you happen to like the look, then so be it. Aside from that, if you don't like the saiga and want a sig, I don't see a problem with it.

Unless it's also BNIB, go to the range with your brother, pay for a box of ammo, and give the sig a try first.
