Giving up on Sig

I bought a SIGP226 last year and have about 500 rounds through it and no issues and it has the retarded mag disconnect on it.

very pleased with it in shooting and fit to my hand as well.

Sig's I own:
SP2022 - 9mm
P226 Scorpion - 9mm

Of the 2 Sigs I own, I had issues with the SP2022 out of the box that took me 3 range trips (~500rds) to figure out that the plastic guide rod was bent, causing the spring to hang up and keeping it from going to full battery every few rounds. I replaced it with a SS guide rod and have had 0 issues in 2500rds.

The P226 scorpion has had 0 issues, but I only have 800rds through it.

So I have been a loyal, sometimes rabid, Sig fanboy for a long time but I am having to face facts and admit that their handguns are not up par.

I own 8 SIGs (and have a 9th SIG on order). I've never had a single issue with any of them. They are more than up to par. You might be facing the wrong facts.

I do have a GSG 1911-22 that was rebranded by SIG Sauer. That one has given me some feeding issues, but it's not really a SIG so I don't count it.

They're probably all broken and worthless. I'll dispose of them for you for a nominal fee.

Sucks that you have fallen out of love with them. I really love mine and they have done well for me. All of my problems have been shooter error.

Agree. My old SIGs; never a problem. Ask me, and I'll tell you they had been some of the best damned pistols I've ever seen come out of any factory making guns. I still think that, and they still perform just as well.

I can not say the same for many of the modern SIG pistols and SIG rifles that have crossed my path. The fit and finish is not even as good, but the reliability and performance is absolutely lacking on a broader, mode frequent occurrence. Sure, there may be a few lucky winners now and then but way to infrequent to call it the norm; it's as if two entirely different companies made them, to the point I have started calling the SIG firearms from the American production - SIG "clones".

I've owned a few Sigs, after dealing with their customer service, or lack there of, I literally sold them all.

They were reliable and pretty though.

Bought a 2022 in nine for the wife & liked it so much I bought one for myself.

On mine you can see where the front sight has been buggered with and the bore looks like Stevie Wonder carved the rifling with a file... and mine shoots even lower than the wife's does...

So I would say QA might be problem...

I've given up on Mercedes, too. On one, the door locked and wouldn't let me in after 200 miles; another one leaked oil all over my driveway and my latest one had seats that overheated. I am now using nothing but my trusty VW Passat. Never leaks, always drives straight down the road every time and has no seat heater to burn my arse.

My older P226 (since sold) was excellent.

My new MK25 / P226 Variant is wearing very quickly. The "special" phosphate coating wore off after 200 rounds and parts of the barrel are already exposing bare metal after 1.2k rounds.

Not a fan of the finish for the Navy /MK25 series at all. My older P226 (Still Exeter and not German) seemed to have a much better finish and build quality. The slide on my MK25 is loose as hell and has some play. It can even rattle around..

2 handgun samples is definitely not enough to prove this, but I think the Sig build quality has dropped a bit from how it used to be.

Only one that gave me trouble is the Glock 19(follwergate/extractorgate) and those are $3 fixes. Why would you keep buying Sigs if they consistently gave you trouble?

I bought all of them around the same time frame without fully testing the first one I bought. I just asked around on arfcom for new platforms and brands to try after I had a bunch of glocks and wanted something else to play with and they said try sig.

I will not try new brands without more personal experience and testing in the future. I really want to try CZs and eventually Ill get around to buying one and testing it.

I bought a 226 Mk 25 last year and was astounded at the inaccuracy of that pistol. At 25 yards it shot a good foot or so above point of aim (124gr FMJ) and no matter what ammunition it would not hit what I was aiming at. SiG factory told me they'd be happy to look at the sights as long as I was happy paying them $400 - never mind the warranty. This told me everything I needed to know about Sig's approach to quality issues.

Disgusted, I took a financial bath and got rid of what was nothing more than an attractive paperweight. The guy that bought it later told me it was just as good as the rest of his Sigs. I know he meant it as a compliment to the gun but I took it the opposite way.

But, it was a learning experience and I learned to never buy another SiG.

(And yes, I am a damn good shot as anyone who's seen me at Davis Street will attest)

Was this accounting for the combat sight picture? It is #3. Not being condescending or anything but rather I didn't know Sig Sauer handguns had a different holdover from the rest and was shooting with Sight Picture # 2 in the photo below. I had been so used to shooting with Sight # 1 or 2 so I was pretty bad when I tried Sig handguns haha.



Presently, #3 is my favorite and the one I'm most accurate with now.

If you already knew this, then nevermind my bad. It's just that this didn't come to me as common knowledge at first haha.
