Can anybody spot the error?

how do I know it's pointed at his face?
1) I don't know if its directly pointed at his face.
2) I know it's pointed in the direction of his face.
3) How? It doesn't take a genius to figure it out that your head is located between your hands.
4) It's not a responsible image for gun owners... esssspecially when someone is posting videos of many handguns being handled on a site called YouTube.Comment

2) No, you don't. You're making an assumption.
3) It doesn't take a genius to read the thread and see the discussion about the use of those fandangled tripods.Comment

True statement, but not in this case.
I never said I wasn't.....Comment

And how do you know this?
edit: Heck, just looking at the top comments from his most recent video(because I'm not going to bother putting more than a few seconds of effort into looking), you see a conversation. Someone freaking out about a firearm pointed at a camera, another user pointing out that the guy could have simply used a tripod, and then the guy who posted the video himself pointing out the obvious. At least you didn't make some comment about holding a camera in his mouth, but when a tripod is dirt cheap and allows someone to sit behind the camera and point a firearm at the camera without it being pointed in the direction of their head since it's very easy to flip an LCD screen around or just look at it if the viewing angle allows, there is no reason to assume that someone is stupid enough to be pointing a gun at their own head.

It doesn't matter what your reasons are, it is just plain stupid, irresponsible and totally unprofessional to take and load a firearm ( regardless if it is chambered or cocked) and point it at anything, ESPECIALLY YOURSELF! What kind of message do you think this sends? There are kids, beginning shooters and the impressionable watching this. Not to mention anti-gunners who just cant wait to pounce on this sort of crap to further their own causes and agendas. You should know better! That being said, the SIG 210 is one of the all time best 9mm's there is. It deserves better, I'm sorry.

Entertaining comments like these are half the reason I do it.

bob garr, here is food for thought......what if Mr. LifeSizePotato wasn't actually behind the camera viewfinder? Just because the muzzle was pointed at the lens of the camera doesn't mean that LifeSizePotato was behind that lens. What I find irresponsible is people jumping to conclusions without researching facts. A look at current events will show us that jumping to conclusions sometimes leads to unfortunate consequences. Since we don't know exactly where LifeSizePotato is positioned behind the camera, why assume?

Yes, thats true. But still, the firearm WAS loaded, and someone was holding the camera( as it was tracking) and now I guess someone is going to argue that its OK to violate a basic tenet of firearm safety, "never point a firearm, loaded or not, at anything you wouldn't want to be destroyed" look, I really enjoy the videos. But at some point excuses are no longer a viable defense. The gun was loaded and pointed at something other than a down range target. It was a mistake or an error and needs to be owned up to, not defended. Dont make it into something more than what it was, it was not personal or critical. It was just being pointed out so that no one gets hurt, maimed or killed the next time. Ive seen what a firearm can do, I've witnessed first hand range and shooting "accidents", and intentional shootings and pray that you and any other gun owner never has to experience them. I myself in over 45yrs of shooting know there are no accidents, only lapses in judgement and observations, and hope to keep my record of safety at 100%. I did not do this to argue or insult anyone, I just wanted to point out a potentially life threatening situation. If one does not choose to learn from a mistake, so be it, do it your way. Live and learn. By the way, the only conclusion I jumped to was that the loaded firearm being used had the potential for injury or death. Semper Fi

I've got a message. MYOB.

+bob garr 1. Mr. Potato here is an expert
2. The firearm, while it did have an full magazine inserted, was safety checked with a clear chamber.
3. Nobody was behind the camera, it was not tracking in that shot, it was mounted plainly on a bipod or other mount.
I'd also like to point out that in the videos where he is showing off a revolver, he does not flag the camera with the muzzle after loading it, as in that situation, the gun is now hot with a round in the chamber. With a semi-automatic, this is not the case.

+Chris Thank you, Chris. I don't generally feel like putting the effort into defusing the "U POINTED A LOADED GUN AT UR HEAD, IDIOT" comments, so I appreciate you doing it for me. :-)Last edited by Merc1138; 04-21-2015, 8:06 PM.Comment

Not sure what that means ?? Feel free to elaborate .You did it somewhere else, now you are here.
lol There it is there , There has been enough people thinking he pointed the gun at his face and calling him out on it that he no longer even comments on the issue . Thank god I'm not the only complete dumb azz in the world .I don't generally feel like putting the effort into defusing the "U POINTED A LOADED GUN AT UR HEAD, IDIOT" comments, so I appreciate you doing it for me. :-)

allow the existence, occurrence, or practice of (something that one does not necessarily like or agree with) without interference.
Anyone else find it sad that those who preach tolerance CAN'T allow the existence, occurrence, or practice of (something that they do not necessarily like or agree with) without interference.
I write almost everything in a jovial manner regardless of content . If that's not how you took it please try again

I think you are the one having a hard time comprehending. Directly pointed at his face or in the direction of his face are both incorrect ways to handle a firearm.
I know the camera is on a tripod since the camera is so still, BUT:
1) both hands are directly below the camera
2) he points the barrel at the camera
3) firearm is handled in a manner where it does not portray him extending his arms out to a camera on a tripod
4) he does not argue about the firearm not being pointed IN THE DIRECTION of his face (he just argues back about magic/having a masters in physics)
SO, where can his head be?Comment

With this post you made, I believe you shot yourself in the foot. I just looked at 3 of his revolver videos and all being completely loaded cylinders. Now that means there one in the chamber (not a revolver guy so not sure if this is the correct term). In all these, he does NOT point at the camera/direction of his face. And how do you know this?

Now with the facts I pointed out earlier and this one, I rest my case.
Unless you want to say, "well he really cares about his camera so that's why he does it different!".

Or he doesn't point it at the camera. Again, there's still no reason to assume it's pointed at his face and you're basing your conclusion off of assumptions that rely on someone you don't know, to be a moron instead of doing what thousands of others do(use a tripod). With this post you made, I believe you shot yourself in the foot. Well, anyway, he has some nice gun's so I watched and I'll keep watching although he's incompetent of basic firearm safety.Comment
