I'm wondering how long it's going to take Uber to wade into this whole scene and either fire the guy for being armed (thus embracing gun-control and potentially killing their business) or praise him as a good citizen (thus embracing gun rights and potentially killing their business).

Maybe they'll just keep quite about it until the Antis start telling people to boycott Uber because their drivers are known (a sample of 1 being a valid sample by most antis) to carry*GASP* GUNS!

This could get interesting.

EDIT: Looks like Uber has a stated policy, although I couldn't find it on their web-site. After the recent incident in Atlanta, they put out the following:

"Safety is Uber's #1 priority. We take reports like this seriously and are treating the matter with the utmost urgency. As a matter of policy, unless expressly permitted by law, driver partners are not allowed to carry weapons on a trip."

(emphasis mine).

Wow. I didn't know Chicago had a person with a CCW inside its boundaries. This is the kind of upbeat news I like to see on a Monday.

Surprised the Chicago Tribune would even cover a positive event
regarding CCW. I doubt this will get any serious coverage by
the mass media on a national scale.... wouldn't conform to their
propaganda message that all Guns & Gun Owners Are Bad.

They couldn't seem to help themselves though, on putting
some slightly negative connotations such as:

Instead of something more appropriate like:
Heroic Armed Citizen saves lives !

Yup. They also ignore the fact that there are more guns in private hands and less crime than in the early 90's but also claim that more guns = more crime.

UBER will not do anything because they are facing a lawsuit in CA that drivers are misclassified as contractors instead of employees. Uber tells their drivers exactly how to do this and that, even though per Federal guidelines a company using independent contractors should not have any control how they do their jobs, only that it is done legally and what the end result is expected.

So if Uber starts to tell drivers if they can carry or not carry firearms while driving for Uber ( which btw the drivers are using their own personal vehicles not ones supplied by Uber) that is more ammunition for the lawsuit that their drivers are employees and not independent contractors.
