I have a Safariland for my 1911. Got it well used from a buddy who had it in Afghanistan.
It keeps your belt secure and stable. I like it and makes for an easy draw. It can be cumbersome compared to a belt holster.
As far as value? Depends if you're just trying to get rid of it or making maximum $$. If I sell something, I usually put it up for 40-60% of new value. depending on condition.
