This is like asking if 9mm is better than .45, if Ford is better than Chevy, etc. You going to get a million different answers.

I don't think it's the "best" but I use MPro7 cleaner and use Weaponshield to lube. I like WS because it's thicker than most lubes and really stays put. I've shot 400 rounds through my Beretta once and when I got home to clean it, it was very welled lubed still. Same with my AK. So WS has worked well for me.

What, this thread again? Great, I love this thread!

      Oil - Lubriplate FMO-350-AW

Grease - Lubriplate SFL-NLGI#0 (or SFL-NLGI#1 where it's blazin hot), their 130-A rifle grease is great, too.

I like Boeshield T-9 for more robust corrosion protection in harsher environments or for long term protection in storage.

Here is a very informative article on the nature and function of lubrication:

I went this route a few years ago and haven't looked back. The first 2 products serve my lubrication needs for all of my firearms perfectly. I also like that these products are very clean. Non- toxic.

Either that or bear grease thinned with moonshine.

I switched to FireClean a while back. No regrets.

I have been using Frog lube.
I love how smooth my gun feels with it and the clean up after shooting is so easy just wipes clean.
But!!!!! I am not happy with it for guns I don not shoot as often.
After sitting in the safe for a while it get's sticky and can cause slides not to fully slide forward.

There is no best lube. The key to keep your weapons protected and reliable is keep them lubed.

I use Wilson Combat Ultima Lube in all it's forms (lite oil, oil, Universal, grease). Started using it on my 1911 and then just adopted it for everything to keep things simple. It's good stuff. Is it the best? Meh...not sure. It's lube. It works. I really like their "Universal." It's somewhere between grease and oil. Stays put better than oil.

Thanks for the link to that informative article on lubes, very interesting read.

For me, the problem with using a pure lube is that this would require me to use another product for cleaning and making my firearms maintenance period longer. I'll have to first clean my firearms with a solvent/cleaner, then apply a lube like Lubriplate. While it can be argued that multipurpose CLPs may not perform as well as single purpose solvents/cleaners and lubes, fact is, they are good enough for my various firearms.

I used to use Froglube, it is good and I never had any problems with it. However, I've switched to SEAL 1 CLP due to cost of Froglube. Froglube is very expensive and SEAL 1 CLP seems to be the same product at a slightly reduced cost.

The cost of Slip2000 Gun Lube seems to be even lower, I'm thinking of switching to that later to further reduce the cost of CLPs.

CLP is cheap and works fine for general lubrication. The only thing special I do is use a light grease on any friction surface in the firearm. A tiny dab and spread it with a qtip.

Gibbs (a CLP) for cleaning, and Gun Butter for lubrication, although Gibbs is probably the only thing I really need. (Both are recommended by Nighthawk Custom).

Gun Butter is expensive (about $18.95 for a 2/3 oz. bottle), but I've been using the same bottle for the past two years, and there is still about 1/3 of the bottle left. It has worked out well for me.

For cleaning, non chlorinated brake cleaner. Lube I use automatic transmission fluid

I like frog lube but the price of that stuff has gotten out of site. so back to CLP & tetra grease for me.
