My son is at the University in Reno and that range is an automatic when we come up to visit him. Beautiful set up, well run and plenty of stations to shoot. According to the range master about 1/3 of their usage is from Californian's

What's the set up for handguns? I'd like to take some friends of my son and have them shoot rifles and handguns. I'd like to shoot close targets to give them confidence; nothing like a new shooter trying to shoot a handgun at 25 yards. For handguns, I'd like to get them in pretty close like 7 to 10 yards. For rifle, it would be good to shoot at 50 or 100 yards.

Each mound has a setup for targets. I think the closest was 10 yards. But I could be wrong because they do CCW there and I know the first shoot is 3 yards.

So if a person had two positions side by side, one could have targets at 10 yards and the other at 50/100 yards?

You mentioned that it was dead the day you were out there; what day of the week and what time were you out there? When I was there for my CCW class, there were people standing around waiting for it to open at 8:00 am on a Saturday morning.

I sure hope you have your CCW by now; no background check needed if you have a CCW when purchasing a new gun which saves you $25.

Went out last weekend. Seems Ca. is "donating" 60k for "improvements" So nice of Cali to do so! Yeah I dont get it either but the range guy said they donated a while back and like where the cash went. He said they like to see the money go to something other then into someones pocket.

I did ask why Ca. was doing this. He said that they asked how many Ca. people come to the range. Once they found out they started donating.

I wonder if the money is from the CA Police Teams that train there.

Finally went to the real range here. Its 18 min away and a straight shot too. The range guys were awesome! Told me about all the events and CCW stuff when we were just BSing. There was also 3 California guys there. They all drove up just for the range.

First time Ive shot past 300 yards. They have steel up down range starting at 300 yards to 1000 yards. Im hooked! Man already thinking about a long range rig and glass. Oh boy wife should be happy lol.
