Uh, yeah. He was already denied. The "govt" already knows he has a charge/conviction. It's ALREADY been used against him. Now he's trying to get it cleared up.

    ????

Specific details will yield more specific advice. Maybe he just needs to appeal the DROS? Maybe he needs an attorney? Maybe he needs to flee the country?

I vote flee the country. OP, go to mexico. As long as you dress and act like the locals, you can buy all the guns you want.
And you won't need no steenkin badges.

        This is crazy!

OK, so I went and got my live scan done yesterday and went to the court house to pull my file. I got copies of the form showing everything was dismissed.

After looking it over I can assume what happened was the DOJ was told that I was arrested BUT never got that I completed a class and was good to go. So when they ran the DROS and found this who ever was doing the application was to lazy to call and get the correction and instead just denied me. Now I have to pay hundreds of dollars, from gun restocking fees to DROS fees to live scan fees and what ever else I'm paying for this, to correct something that would have been solved by a government worker that wasn't lazy.

Next steps: I submitted the live scan and now have to wait for the DOJ to get back to me... I also submitted my court paperwork and live scan paperwork to the federal appeals area to cover all my bases.

I hope this will be solved fast but with no way of getting a hold of the DOJ or the federal department dealing with these I get to check my mail each day waiting for what could be months.

        THANK YOU CALIFORNIA

You will get a copy of your record with instructions on how to challenge it for accuracy and completeness.
Follow the instructions and send a copy of your court record.
          Wait for their reply.

Good for you for being proactive in cleaning this up. Some of us made more mistakes than others in our life, I wish you the best in this.

OP you are/were being obtuse. You got arrested and the charges were dismissed. That is the complete story (if I understand what you said). You are well on your way to getting this solved but if anyone asks again, don't tell the whole boring story, just say the charges were dismissed, the details are for your lawyer not anyone else.

And none of this would have happened if you were not around/involved/using etc drugs in the first place.

That is why so many other people do not have the problems you have getting a firearm.

Sorry but you caused yourself the problems so accept some or all the blame for your current problem.

No OP, the root cause of the problem wasn't the government's. It was your use of drugs. Own it, fix it and move on. You are not a victim. You are simply reaping the consequences.

Screw you both! I DID OWN UP TO IT WHEN I GOT THE CHARGE I fixed it years ago and never looked back I'm a law biding tax paying citizen sense then and will always be.

I have a right to be pissed that although I payed my dews the courts didn't submit anything and now the DOJ workers are to lazy to make a phone call.

                      Calm it.

Granted both replies were a little sharp but you acting like a child isn't going to help your standing here, or get you any sympathy or help.

Their point was YOU did cause this. Your own actions. How do you know it was some "lazy government worker"? There could be a slew of different reasons why the information didn't get communicated to the bureau of firearms. You're not a victim. If you are, it's a victim of someone doing their job.

                      Calm down.

They live for the opportunity to be called to duty to protect the innocent. The sheepdog has fangs and the propensity for violence but hopes that he will not have to resort to it. However, he lives for that day when he will be able to use his warrior skills and mindset to keep the wolf from harming the sheep."

The court messing up your paperwork is simply an unintended consequence of your actions. Your actions alone. Again, fix it, own it, get over it and move on.

You are exhibiting some of the behavior of a "dry drunk". Don't do that, nothing good will come of it. you are not a victim.

You're only assuming the DOJ worker was lazy and didn't call. Maybe you should read up on what the actual background process is. It's a lot more involved than you'd think. And if the DOJ agent can't get the records from the court within the DROS timeframe then they have to deny you. It could be that the courts simply didn't get back to the DOJ because they're understaffed and your case was considered low priority.

But seriously, read up on the testimony for the court case regarding the 10 day wait that CGF filed. It contains every detail of the DROS process and you can find out where the error was and help correct it. Or you can make assumptions and gripe online, your choice.

                                This got out of control.
                                Some good info here.
If you had it already dropped to a misdemeanor. The hard work is done. Now you just have to verify it and get it into the system DOJ looks at..
I am no expert and have never went through this, but a couple of friends have had similar experience.
One friend just got turned down last week on a rifle purchase.
His deal:He has a ex-wife that they still shared a car title jointly.Exwife has a couple unpaid parking tickets.WTH.Well those have to be taken care of before he buys a gun.The ex could give a hoot.So he is still paying for her business.
Good luck with your journey OP.
