    Gun lock scam

I have a top quality safe so this angers me. It really adds to the reasons I don't buy new guns anymore. It's just another california tax. You come up with a price for a gun after doing research but don't forget to add 20% for california versions or availability, then tax, dros, transfer, background...and then you are forced to buy another lock at 10-20$.

Look at all the money thrown away, and that's not even all of them. What the hell should I do with em? 9 out of 10 I never even installed. They make you buy one and you don't even have to install it before you leave. Is there any onther way to describe it except a scam?

Not anymore. Last month I PPT'd a gun at Ammo Bros and the new owner was forced to buy a new lock. I couldn't give him one. I was told it "had to be purchased at the time of transfer and put on the receipt."

I just posted a thread rearding this same thing, it looks like a hand gun, the safe waiver is a no go, but it should for long guns. Definately a scam, I think its the only way an FFL can make some sort of profit from a PPT. I know the DOJ doesnt get the money for the gun locks.

I know for sure theyre still doing safe waivers, because my buddy just PPTd a long gun and signed an affidavit yesterday.

I PPT'd a rifle at Turners last month and they made me buy a lock from them since I didn't have a receipt for a lock purchased within the last 30 days. Luckily the lock was just ~$6 or so.

              Give old lock to friend.
Have him sell it back to you.
Write your own receipt. (date/price/model #, names)
              Present lock and receipt.
              Take home firearm.

Also the most I've ever paid for a new lock was $6.

                Gun lock scam

Gift receipt? Or return it without a receipt for store credit? Return that **** later and at least get money back one way or another.

You have got to be kidding me. Exactly how much profit do you think we make a $ 5.95 lock?
You, you, and you: Panic. The rest of you, come with me.

if you zoom in you can see the locks at big 5 are 10$ for the cheapest ones. The rest im not sure what I paid. The trigger master lock one was 19.99 and all my LGS had when I did a transfer. They didn't want to sell 20$ locks but it was the last one and all the cheapos were sold out.

I know I have not paid 6$ for one though.

The biggest slap in the face is when your new gun comes with a lock from the factory and they still make you buy one.

I only carry the cheapest thing that satisfies the requirement.

Lol FP. I'm going to have to add to the shop sign.

Fighterpilot must wear pants and is not allowed near the books.
