Just curious, I did a PPT about a week ago and was told that I needed to buy a gun lock. I advised the dealer that I had a Winchester 24 gun safe and I knew the model number. He said it doesn't matter, the DOJ has his hands tied and there is nothing he can do and I would still need to buy a gun lock.
I accompanied a buddy for another PPT at a different FFL and he told the dealer that he had a safe, the dealer handed him a safe waiver document (I forget the name of the document) where he wrote in the make and model of the safe and did not have to pay for the gun lock.
Is it up to the FFL to offer those safe waiver forms or do they have to provide them?
I know it is only a 10 dollar charge but it still feels like I was hustled into paying 10 bucks.
I've done many PPT's and bought several new firearms in the past and have always used a safe waiver and it seemed odd to me that this FFL had no idea what I was talking about when I mention that I had a Winchester safe and a gave him the model number.
