How about just plain ol' water. Or earwax.

What a silly question. Obviously a young renter, or lives with parents.

      Spray PAM.
Any vegetable oil / olive oil.
      Butter.
      Margarine.
      3in1 oil
      Chainsaw lube
      Motorcycle chain oil
      generator oil
      lawn motor oil
      bearing grease
      two-stroke motor pre-mix
      citronella oil
      lamp oil
      vaseline
      hand lotion
baby oil (which is just mineral oil)
      Astroglide

And why the hell couldn't I pull the dipstick from any oiled motor and use it on my guns.

I like saving the little packets of synthetic-based moly grease that come with brake pads. I buy tubs of the stuff, since it's easier to apply to brakes that way, and bring the little packets home for use on my guns.

            I wouldn't consider WD-40 a lubricant...

I would rub my gun down with the two day old piece of fried chicked still
                left in the fridge.

If my locust of a son ate it, I would grab a stick of butter.

I have a glock...it would fire fine dry, but if it was absolutely necessary I guess I would use Pam spray or olive oil

i was at my buddy's house when we came up with this he just didn't want to post something stupid. I'm a mechanic and i know you can find something specific oil around the house. I was looking for answers more like your "butter, spray pam, vaselline, hand lotion.

Gunaria i hope you have a gun that takes VERY little oil like a glock or something. If you had say a 1911, you 5 mins would consist of you calling fellow cgs to contribute earwax =D

Rayra's list was pretty complete. I wouldn't use a water-based lub like any of the "personal lubricants", as they dry out too fast. I wouldn't worry about things going rancid if this was a shtf kind of emergency. If things are that dire, your gun lube going rancid in a few days, or drying out in a couple of weeks is kind of moot. Another popular lube of old was butter and pencil lead shavings (graphite). Remember, some of the older guns like 1911s and garands work better with a thicker lube.

KY would burn off- Astroglide would too.

                            I'm going to say:

1: Chapstick, or other lip balm.
                            2: Bacon grease
3: Acne cream... reason, most brands contain Styrene- a monomer liquid that wont brake down at high temp and is used in the mfg of various elastomeric and plastic compounds- means it kind of sticks itself together and has a high film strength- though it does evaporate slowly.

acne cream... wow wouldnt have ever thought of that one. What about something that turns really greasy when warm...like mayo? Wouldn't smell good but i've seen what it does to my sandwhich and plates. pretty oily
