I guess you missed the episode where the ''appraiser'' quotes $3500 for a working, full auto German MG42.IMHO Lords of War was the only "reality" gun show worth a darn. The guy was (and is again) the "antique firearms expert" on Pawn Stars.
Cool weaponry, no drama. Too bad it got canceled.

wtf...
So I looked, and sure enough...
No. Just.. no. Why would any gun owner who knows better watch this ****? $3500?
The September 2014 RIA auction had one listed for an estimated $18,000-$27,500. It sold for $37,375. There was another in the May 2014 RIA auction that sold for $46,000.
What were those people smoking to even discuss a 4 figure number for an MG42? Hell, it would have made more logical sense to appropriate tack on the extra 0 and say it was worth $35,000. Obviously the people on that show have NO idea wtf they're doing, and there is no chance in hell that was the actual owner. Why would anyone on calguns watch that garbage? It's as bad as the other shows and I only watched 2 minutes of it.Comment

Interesting firearms here and there but you can tell the whole thing is fake.
Not worth sitting down and watching but if you want something on in the background it is on Netflix...
The online reasoning on the MG42's price is that it was a Dealers Sample.. If I remember correct they don't even "auction" it off because after the shooting demo portion the owner says they are going to take a 4K offer. But again.. the whole show is a fake.Last edited by Chaos47; 03-02-2015, 3:06 AM.Comment

To say the least... the molestation and abuse charges have been flying all about that family for more than a year now... Not to mention their FFL troubles that they have had numerous of over the years.Comment

Of course it's fake...its "reality TV".
I thought the guns presented on the show were interesting, that was my point. It was entertaining (to me) the same way Pawn Stars is entertaining (to me).
There's nothing real about any of these shows, no sense in trying to pretend.

^^^This. The handful of times I watched the show, he really seemed like the only one there that was worth a damn and was interested in A) MAKING MONEY, and B) taking on projects that were interesting, profitable and not ridiculous. I, honestly, hope he does well and is able to rebuild the company image.
I can see him doing something of a cross between Mythbusters and Lock'n'Load and doing a good job of it. Who knows.

YES YES! I remember that. Heck, I saved it and put it on my WD Live hub so if someone ever asks if I watched it, I say, hold a sec, you mean THIS show? and fire up that segment...Even if we ignore all of the problems that family has, that show was garbage.
They couldn't show a clip of the daughter shooting a desert eagle without faking it(ffs, they could have just swapped it from a .50ae to .357) and ending up showing a beretta 92 variant. Then there were all of the phony "customers" with their fake "projects", the outright dangerous "gunsmithing", the piss poor portrayal of gun owners and people in the firearm industry, etc.
That other family gun shop show with the dad pimping his underage daughter on camera wasn't any better either.
The general public wants stupid drama ridden "reality shows" filled with caricatures of people in wacky situations with random hijinks. But that's not what the firearm industry is about, nor most gun owners. If you had a serious show that wasn't setup like a gameshow(Top Shot, which was actually ok) the ratings would likely be terrible as the common neanderthal would be bored before the first commercial break.
Now that Noir show that the NRA was doing with Colion Noir, that was a decent show(even if I wasn't particularly fond of it due to the spastic editing/topic changes, and some of the random stuff thrown in) that actually displayed a reasonable representation of gun owners and various aspects of the firearm industry. It didn't need stupid camera tricks, it didn't need random love triangles between people on the show, didn't need something exploding every 5 minutes, didn't need to pretend that all gun owners are a bunch of uneducated hicks from the mountains, etc.
Lamest ****ing BS show I never watched. Almost as lame as scorpion, but that show is just nonsense BS period...7 Billion people on the planet. They aint ALL gonna astronauts. Some will get hit by trains...
Need GOOD SS pins to clean your brass? Try the new and improved model...

And remember- 99.9% of the lawyers ruin it for the other .1%...Comment
