Too many hobbies, Too little time.
Mind you, I'm 5'7", 180, with a visible Ab... -
One of our Hunter Ed instructors did a test a few months ago with safety glasses, and I repeated it with an old pair of my polycarbonate prescription glasses and a pair of rated safety glasses.
Test round and distance: 22LR at 25 yards.
The 22LR did not penetrate the rated safety glasses. The 22LR did penetrate polycarbonate prescription glasses (took out a piece 2x the size of the projectile) cleanly. That was enough to convince me to use over-the-glasses safety gear, and to not trust my prescription stuff.
For stray brass particles and gasses, prescription stuff will do. For anything more, it's not very useful. At that point I did not bother with the #8 shot test.Comment

Shatterproof????
Try putting them on the target and putting a round through the lens. I would bet dollars to donuts that they would indeed shatter.sigpic

Odds are that anything impacting your face will be small, light, and slow moving when compared to an actual bullet.
But, they are the only eyes you have.
I got a pair of full lens magnifier glasses from a welding shop so I could ditch the bifocals and see the pistol sights.

ESS stuff can handle birdshot to the lenses.
I paid like $80 for my ess cdi max. Came with dark tinted lenses, and clear. They look like regular sunglasses.
Although i usually just west whatever pair of sunglasses I have on since they are more comfy."If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so." - Thomas JeffersonComment

Originally posted by cockedandglockedGetting called a DOJ shill has become a rite of passage around here. I've certainly been called that more than once - I've even seen Kes get called that. I haven't seen Red-O get called that yet, which is very suspicious to me, and means he's probably a DOJ shill.Comment

DO NOT wear prescription high index lenses. They will shatter into pieces.
Trivex or Polycarbonate are the only materials that should be used for RX protective lenses.
EDIT:
Some interesting information here on the different materials:
