    Minimum rounds at a range?

I'm just curious to what a few of you have as your personal minimum amount to make it worthwhile to go to a range, pay fees, and shoot? The last time I went, I put about 140 rounds through my 1911. I think I paid around $18 or so for the range fees.

Not worth it imho. Find somewhere to shoot outdoors. Or start reloading. You won't save money, you'll just shoot a lot more.

I used to live about 5 miles from a range I was a member at. I'd go all the time and shoot anywhere from 20-200rds.

I'm still bringing several guns so I'm usually in for at least 200 on the pistol side. If I'm shooting rifle, it depends. There for load development and making notes? Could be less than 100
In those cases I will bring something else just for fun.
I do try to keep it down to two or maybe three different calibers.

Really? As low as 20 rounds? Was it a special box of a certain JHP that you wanted to try out?

It all depends on what underware I have on tat day.

Tighty Whities: that's 3 100rnd Winchester White boxes of whatever caliber.

            Boxers: that's 1 550 rnd box of 22lr

Thong: that's 5 boxes of JHPs in 20rnd boxes.

Commando: gotta go full mall ninja and bring no less that 1000 rounds of something.

I shoot on a private range and sometimes only shoot a dozen rounds.

I went to the range Saturday and after spending some time repairing target holders I put 40 rounds of .22 and 28 rounds of 12G downrange before going to get some breakfast.

I belong to a members only range ($60 a year) that takes me 5 minutes to get to and I go almost every Saturday. I have no minimum as far as rounds go and I just shoot whatever I happen to feel like.

Whatever I feel like. It's a 20 or so mile drive for me, and costs me $15 (I think). Sometimes I've shot as few as 20. If I'm not having a good day, I'm not going to continue to throw lead downrange.

I've paid to shoot at a range 3 times in my life, that was in the last 5 or 6 years. I shot maybe 100 rounds or so total, through the 2-3 pistols I brought. I don't find public range shooting very appealing. Private club ranges are nice when I get an invite.
Shooting on private property isn't that difficult to hook up, I went to a bar on the outskirts of town after work with friends and talked to some ranchers, they all have squirrel problems, make friends get a number and go shooting. I had two confirmed kills yesterday. It was a slow day.

Hmm. I will be going soon w/ the 1911 and my newly acquired Glock 36. I was thinking on taking 132 rds total. I'm planning on taking notes and writing things down too. So maybe that'd be fine...

I probably shoot 200 rounds each range trip, on average.

I never pay for shooting on a range. I live just a few miles from state/blm land and shoot for free.

I typically take several guns and anywhere from 50-300 rounds.

I do have a friend that will drive a half hour to only shoot 10-20 rounds out of a precision rifle. If its handguns or an AR, he'll never shoot over a 100 rounds. Guy is easily worth over $10million and won't hesitate to spend $2k on a rifle, but he hates spending money on ammo. I don't get it myself, but it's his money.

As usual, with most things gun related.... the answer is "it depends"

I don't set a minimum, but I'll bring X amount of ammo and depending on how it goes, either it all gets shot or it doesn't. I've left ranges early when I just wasn't feeling it and didn't want to waste ammo. The flip side is there's been times when I was on and had to go buy more ammo, so you never know.
