Self imposed mask mandates?

I went to a financial business to sign some papers. They refused me entrance without a mask. I pointed out that the mask mandate was over.

They felt it was a good policy and would voluntarily continue it in their business. I explained it showed poor understanding and judgement. I told them it puts by business with them at risk. They seemed surprised.

What have we come to? We seem to be living "Idiocracy".

Sure, they can demonstrate stupidity, this is good information to have. It also demonstrates poor judgment, that destroys my confidence in them. It is good to know that a service provider does not value you as a client. So, they will loose my business. My loss as client will will be significant to their bottom line. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

There is a distinct difference as you pointed out.
Businesses are free to do as they please, as are you free to spend your money elsewhere. And unlike back during the mandates you may actually find a company who is not an idiot and can earn your business.

This is the ONLY way to get your point across, reasoning with zealots yields nothing.

This is just a suggestion because I think they're acting out of fear (which is sometimes caused by the lack of knowledge) but maybe we should ask these businesses and business owners to do some of their own research.
I'm pretty sure even the CDC website explains the limitations of masks.
Try to explain it in a way that it might not have been clear in the past but the data is in and the "science" has been updated, just like science always is, always was and always will be.

If they believed the line "Trust the science" they need to realize science changes.

I do not care what anyone else does, unless it impacts me. IF a person decides to wear a mask while driving alone, great, as long as they are driving safely. Heck if someone wants to wear a propeller beanie to protect themselves against a virus, great too.

When people do these things, it tells me something about them. They might be misinformed. They might be to lazy to investigate things for themselves. They may be incapable of understanding the world around them and rely on others to tell them what to do. The information they volunteered is important to whether I trust them with important matters.

And yes, I wear an N95 when I mow weeds. It is not the same thing. Neither is surgeons wearing masks.

I thought masking was a good idea even before the pandemic, and so do a lot of doctors/nurses when in surgery, if you think about it.

i thought they wear them to protect the patients from their spit?

this is rational and i do it myself sometimes but the mask cannot protect anyone from beer flu.

My opinion is that masks do a good job keeping Covid transmission to a minimum. Not a silver bullet, But not nothing either.

For example, when our whole family had covid, i was the only driver who felt like they could function and took a couple trips to the grocery store. I masked up in my N95 as a courtesy to others.

Masks are the new tin foil hat. And just like the tin foil hat wearers I avoid mask wearers whenever possible. Besides, people with hypoxia make bad decisions.

They are free to mandate whatever they want. You can stop doing business with them.

I spend more money at my local market where i have never once wore a mask over the last 2 years. I avoid buying things from places where they want me to wear a mask.
