Taiwan, which is so close to China, and was not given much vaccine due to its pariah status , has very few Covid deaths.

Economy was not shut down. People wear masks and wash hands, but go out and do normal things,,,, life went on.

Sure, a few breakthrough out breaks,,,,,maybe a few serious and over 500 maybe exposed so were contact traced and monitored...

but people go out to eat, go to work, go to public areas.

No forced mandates including masks anywhere.. Absolutely no lockdowns
            The best approach.
Accept some deaths..Just like we do for severe flu..or pneumonia..
We haved lived with illnesses forever.
Now, everyone is so OCD. Brainwashed
Even those that have experienced nothing more than a bad cold or mild flu. "Not one death" is absurd!
I hope our red states can resist. If public opinion rules, they will.

              Your information is outdated.

There was an outbreak a few months ago. Upwards of 15000 were infected, with maybe 2000 deaths. The entire island was locked down. People were screaming for vaccines. There were "vaccine tours" going to the US (for the rich) and Guam (not so rich) for the sole purpose of getting vaccinated.

That wave of infection was over. There are still some infected here and there, but mostly gone. The entire island is still near panic with the lockdown being loosened. People were fighting over whatever vaccines there were. Get this, there are hundreds of deaths caused by the vaccine.

Think about it. The virus caused maybe 2000 deaths. Vaccine deaths are almost half of the disease it's trying to prevent.

Taiwan was locked down a few months ago like Sydney is now.

Taiwain and Australia are "nice" island police states with beyond-belief strict quarantines for travelers, all of whom must arrive via a port of entry. Everyone comes out of 1 or 2 doors on an airplane and the are all instantly under complete surveillance. That's the key to their low rates. South Korea too counting the DMZ as tight as an ocean border. No country with land borders has been able to pull off anything like that.

Communitarian garbage like the Swedes have more respect for limited government than Americans. A real low point for the US.
Dr. Goldstein showed us the way. We dropped the ball. Pick up the ball.

I'm not joking. They are still screaming for vaccines right now. The government has a list of classification of people and their priority in getting vaccines. If one is older with health issues, one gets to the front of the line. Those with the lowest priority are high school and college students. There are vaccine tours for those who can afford it. The wealthy would book a 30 day tour to the US to get their vaccines. They hit a local CVS right after getting off the plane for their first shot. Then tour the US for 28 days. Then hit CVS for their 2nd shot. And go home.
