Well this is BS... insult to injury LA County mandates jab for 110,000 employees

Hilda Solis, chair of the County Board of Supervisors, issued an executive order requiring county employees to provide proof of vaccination by Oct. 1.

Someone smarter than me probably knows how to do the archive link in a couple days.

Effective 1-Oct, all 110,000 employees and civil servants need to provide proof of vaccination.

Not only did a freedom job in Texas not work out, which force me to consider all options - that ultimately led to coming back to SoCal and getting old (and arguably very good) job back, wife gets to see her elderly mom & our daughter, friends...but I also get the privilege of paying nearly 3x the purchase price vs. the lovely place we got in TX - but now... I get to decide morals or bankruptcy if I resume a jab.

Negative. Did a comprehensive job search (public and private). Banded top 1 or V for numerous .GOV gigs that went no where. Texas veteran's assistance people really busted their humps looking, leveraging contacts and vet recruiters as the numerous aerospace, IT and major US companies HQ'd here.

Got a few interviews - nothing came of it.

Launched a sole proprietorship and attempted to leverage any of the IT, consulting and management skills but it wasn't enough to substitute for either W2 salary & benefits (without gambling and eating through the healthy 6-figure payout from our 2020 PRK home sale).

TX home sold in <48 hours when I resumed work virtually in CA. Get the new home in 5-8 days and move in a few weeks later. All S4 / S8 has been put into motion and failing a freaking Lotto win.... I'm a freakin lab rat with his azz in the air waiting for J&J to happen....

        This FN sucks...royally.....

Figuring that I was specifically brought in for my skills - it was disappointing to not receive support (until it was nearly too late) during our response.

Texas overall is like it was in 2019 or before. Simply a great place....

Hopefully you picked up a couple off roster goodies for yourself before moving back.

DIL has almost a year comp time. Will be going on leave in Sept and then resign in 3 to 6 months after 16 years with LA County because of this. Although 90% of county employees will comply, they will lose the best ones but, of course, they could care less

Do what's right for you. Our Work which is part of the State said the Same thing get the Jab or face discipline dead line initially was July 5 then August 4th now it's the August 11th.
We will see what happens but at this point it is empty threats.

Perhaps someone should ask for a September 16th deadline. The new governor might want to fire anyone in management who mandated the vaccine. Does management want to take that risk?

THey have to do a meet and confer with the unions before doing this. It's a change in working conditions. This would be violating their MOU with the unions.

                        No resigning. Make them fire.

This is a good argument, but the question is not yet settled.

There's a lot of legal interplay between the requirements of statute and the requirements of a contract (which an MOU is). The contract doesn't always win that battle. Additionally, the terms of MOU's vary.

I've looked and haven't found any. Those are card protectors no actual cards.
