I have been in constant contact with my union (SFPOA), but alas the rumor is half the Executive board have expressed opinions, often overheard, that we are the malcontents and blame us for the hardship in staffing that is about to ensue with the termination ("non-punitive separation" - which I put in quotes because that terminology is not in our MOU, and I personally don't believe the City and County will let us off without some form of reprisal for our "defiance" or attempt to gain a legal exemption under Title 7 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964).

I have no faith left in the process, but maybe a decade down the line this may be set right; if the country hasn't fallen completely off the map by then.
The union leadership needs to be sued and removed for not representing tnier paying members. This is a huge problem with almost all unions on this issue.

It can't get more obvious why public employee unions must end. They claim to represent the worker's interests, but actually they represent the politicians' interests whenever the two come into conflict.

        So very true!

This. Many of you are being fired anyway and your union leadership is in cahoots with the politicians, not the paying members. Sue the bastards, what have yiu got to lose? You already have no job.

I'm still waiting for my Skelly hearing. Today is the deadline. I've been burning PTO since 10/05.

If you were forced to burn PTO, could you fight to get that back?

I burned PTO on my own because the PTO I have the city doesn't reimburse you for it. I left my vacation time intact however, which I do get reimbursed for. That of course can change at any time.

Since yesterday was the deadline, now they have extended the deadline to 12/06/21 for those only partially vaccinated. That gives us a second chance to get the poke to return to work. I still won't do it though.

I'll just burn sick time starting next week (64 hours remaining), and see what happens. It's all a game of chicken, and them extending deadlines means something is working (or not) with SFDHR.

Hang in there, man. Like I've said in the other thread, some how, some way, some day, we will get the last laugh.

My work hasn't said anything, but I have reorganized some debt just in case I lose my job and need to sit out for a while.
