1) Employers ask employees and prospective employees for medical information every day that comes into play as to if you will be employable or not. This is nothing new.

2) HIPPA has no bearing on this conversation whatsoever.

HIPAA only mandates that certain individuals or organizations, generally health care providers or insurers, are prohibited from disclosing certain confidential information about you without permission.

It has NOTHING to do with anyone asking you for information.

This is the thread I was looking for. Since CA is not listed to have religious or philosophical exemptions. However, my city department is considering religious exemptions. Not sure how this applies to the rest of you who work in the city. Here an e-mail citing what I'm talking about
