A recent research paper in The Lancet takes issue with the way the risk reduction data is being presented. While it is true that vaccinated people show a low rate of illness, unvaccinated people also show a low rate of illness. They point out that vaccinated people are about 1% less likely to become ill. Further, it is unknown if vaccination helps prevent you from infecting others. The most that CDC can say is that it "might".
So get the vaccine or don't get the vaccine. It's a personal choice, not a social statement.
