We've tried to keep things as normal as possible for our kids including playdates with like-minded families throughout this whole thing. Even ones who have had covid recently but don't have symptoms anymore. We treat it like the flu. If we or someone has the flu we stay away until they feel better, then everything is fine.

We have some friends with kids who are friends with our kids. They are so terrified that they almost never leave the house. They had had enough one day and took their dog for a walk and came by our house, albeit on the sidewalk out front. We went out to visit some and they were fricken depressed. Our kids were playing in the street on scooters and bikes and they said this is the happiest their kids have been in like 8 months.

This lockdown crap is literally child abuse in my mind. Our neighbors 10 year old grandson hung himself because he "missed his friends and didn't like going to school in his room". Granted, his father had taken his own life a couple years before so there were probably underlying issues, but the lockdown pushed this poor kid over the edge.
