Just for the sake of argument..... let's say they do, and at the end of the day the used mask is laden with the virus spores. Wouldn't the used masks then be highly dangerous hazardous waste?

I ask in all earnest, because used dirty masks are literally littering the ground everywhere. I'm doing work at a medical center in Washington state, and have been here since last Tuesday. We are all required to wear the stupid thing, and very day when I walk into and out of the parking lot I see discarded used paper masks everywhere - on the ground, in the bushes, on the bus benches....... everywhere. You would think that a facility that has mask Nazi's at every turn sternly chastising every person with a perceived infraction would be concerned about uncontrolled disease vectors in and around their parking lot. Apparently, they are not.

    It's a total joke.

I see masks and gloves in parking lots, and masks all over the place. Hiking trails, gutters, wherever people decide to drop them.

So..... unintended consequences? Carelessly discarded masks are actually spreading the virus? lol

Addendum...... the CG "experts" will be quick to point out that the mask you show in your example isn't the right kind of mask, and/or is not being used properly.

Well...... reality check - that is the mask everyone is using.

Keeping a hanky to sneeze or cough into would have accomplished the same minimal benefits is my view.

Ok, ok...... everyone that is wearing a mask. Except maybe the ones that are wearing the same filthy rag/kerchief every day.

As an aside - when I'm forced to wear one on a job site, I wear a provided paper mask, and make sure to add coffee stains to it. Makes it look like I've been coughing up blood.

Or just lift up your shirt collar and cough or sneeze into it like normal people.

But we all know this isn't about coughs or sneezes...

This kind of garbage science is as bad as the bogus HCQ studies that were subsequently retracted. What is it that statisticians say about causation/correlation?

Edit: Does anyone think this is how they discovered that N95 masks prevented silicosis from breathing fine dust from rocks? Or did they actually do some research on people wearing vs not wearing the mask to determine if they prevented or reduced silicosis?

Yes. at this point, a mask is just a symbol of compliance - nothing more.

It has even become a symbol of pride and a form of virtue signaling for people. They take their mask-wearing to extremes to show the world how much they are "doing their part".

Jogging down the middle of the street, alone, on a hot sunny day, with a mask on. "Look at all the lives I am saving!!"

SCA ROO mask wearing issues. There, I said/typed it, done. I will just keep wearing my bandana which I have NOT washed in a full year now. And NO, I do not wear it outside, or in my truck, on the sidewalk, etc. I put it on after I enter the store etc and remove it before leaving the store etc. Am I a bad guy/ denier, selfish hoodlum etc ? Whatever floats you boat/your its twoo its twoo theology etc.

That, too. In addition, people are afraid to be different, to stand out from everyone around them. "Go along to get along".

I have to wear a mask when on a client site, otherwise I do not ever put one on. My wife and daughter have never, ever put a mask on since this whole thing started. Not once, not ever, not even for a minute.

Same five or six guys clapping each other on the back about the same willful misunderstandings. The events of the past year and the well-documented deaths of numerous americans have made not a dint in the ironclad ignorances of the past year, it seems.
