It took 20 years to develop the vaccine Dengvaxia. There was substantial testing and it went through the same testing protocol of every other approved vaccine.

Almost two years after it was approved the manufacturer issued a warning not to give it to people who were not previously infected with Dengue Fever because if you got the virus after vaccination your symptoms would be much worse than if you never had been vaccinated. Unfortunately around 100,000 people had taken the vaccine and some children died after becoming infected.

Excuse me for being cautious about taking a vaccine which has only received emergency authorization and had been tested for only six months.
