We can have it both ways. The US has both northern climate areas and southern more tropical climates areas. Most countries only have one type of climate because they are smaller. They get one flu season, we get two.

The flu season for warmer climates area, our southern states and Mexico, is in the spring. The flu season for colder areas with seasons is in the winter, New York for instance. This is normal an expected. It is why we had big activity in the Northern cities late last winter then another burst of activity in the late spring. It was expected to happen that way.

"They" made no distinction between warmer or colder regions.
