C'mon man - don't think for yourself, don't read anything that dares to question the dictates of the "experts" and your local bureaucrats! Just obey!

Even if marginally effective, there should be a statistically significant difference.

Transmission is also through the eyeballs. So how does a mask prevent an airborne disease from getting into your eyeballs?

It doesn't. That's what face shields / goggles are for. Wear it or not, no one cares enough to try to convince anybody anymore. Your life, your choice.

I agree a mask does not protect your eyes. I am skeptical face guards do much either. It would depend on the googles, swimming googles, I would say yes, if they seal out air. But safety glasses, sun glasses, etc, don't

To test the effectivity of face guards or "googles" how about de seeding chili peppers? Or slicing onions. If your eyes water, while wearing the face guard or mask, then irritants are reaching your eyes, and you are breathing them into your lungs.

I am of the opinion the only effective way to stop transmission of COVID is to test, identify, and mandatory isolation. In the good old days, when a household was identified as a plague house, the windows and doors were boarded up by the community, and everyone inside, stayed inside, until the community was certain the plague had passed, and/or everyone inside was dead. I don't know if anyone would go knocking on doors to see if anyone was still alive or not. Probably not. But, that is one way to do it.

In the “good old days” when one kid got sick, all the neighborhood moms would send their kids over to play. Get them all sick at once so your summer vacation wasn’t ruined.

There's actually a growing body of evidence that indicates that areas with mask mandates are seeing much more wide spread rates of infection than areas that are not under mask mandates.

California's rate of infection per million pop is far below Florida's and Florida has not had any restrictions since September while Califorian has announced a curfew, closed outdoor dining and had mask and social distance mandates since June.

Then of course there's this study from University of Florida that shows no asymptomatic spread which negates the entire reason for masking.

That's pretty much how China did it, except on a much larger scale and with a wee bit less "seal the door and let God sort it out". Deeply unfair to the people locked up inside and probably a whole bunch of people who weren't actually sick got sent to quarantine camp or were sealed up in their apartment buildings. But it does get the job done.
