Many Americans have exactly the attitude you have, and so they walk around, refusing to wear a mask and laughing at the Costco gas attendant who asks them to, feeling clever and patriotic for "refusing to comply". On this very forum we had a member who just recently claimed he tested positive, and in the very same thread first described how he ran errands while sick (and presumably not wearing a mask, given his previous posts), then later said that now that he feels fine he has "even more reason to not wear a mask".

Yet at the same time these Americans rail against perceived leftist "tyrants" enforcing closures. Well, geniuses, if y'all would wear your masks and distance like you are supposed to, maybe we wouldn't have to shut down over and over again.

If someone comes into my business with no mask on, they are getting kicked out. I don't care what supposed right or medical reason they have, they can send me an email and tell me all about it. Nobody has the right to put the lives of me and my employees at risk, and put all of their financial well being at risk, simply because they think they know better.
