Does it not seem like the whole thing is coming to an end?.

It seems heavily dependent on what state and city you are in. Northern Nevada requires masks in stores but I dont see many people wearing a mask any where else. Many in casinos were unmasked with no enforcement that I saw, but that was a single casino so I dont know how it is with the other ones.

San Diego on the other hand, is much, much different. People solo driving with The Mask, people solo jogging with The Mask and People of The Mask continue to feel the need to remind me that I MUST wear a mask at all times. Thats not going to happen. I just got back from a big box store and they erected a mobile speaker system mounted on a boom in the parking lot that was broadcasting messages - social (un-)distancing reminders, safety, etc. The one that really caught my attention was, "You wear a Mask to protect others and others wear a Mask to protect you". Its quite Orwellian in my opinion.

I cant comment on what the tell-a-vision is broadcasting since I dont watch, but I think they will milk this overblown situation for as long as they can.

I we make reopening contingent on a case percentage threshold that I have seen then we will never reopen.

For the DNA test the number of false positives is over the threshold levels. Add in antibody tests, contact tracing, and symptoms with no testing and we have no hope to ever reopen.

IF we brought the nose swab test cut off down to 30 cycles we could probably reopen today. At 40 cycles it is not specific for active cases. The antibody test are useless for this, they only tell you that the person was once exposed.

The media will tell you it's ramping up again in Europe while the first wave is still increasing in the US...

Only difference is that now here in middle America we no longer close school districts, businesses etc because of a few cases..

I doubt there will be a cure all vaccine like the polio, measles, mumps and chicken pox vaccines. Societies will have to learn to just live with it as they did in the eras before vaccines..

Only important metrics are hospitalizations and deaths... Pure case count should not be the driving variable.
