I should have added Hydroxychloroquineto my original list! I was on the bandwagon of hopefuls for quite a while. Now I'm pretty neutral, less hopeful.

It may end up still working in some combination, who knows. For the time being it cannot be said that we have any studies proving that it does. There are many fake studies showing that it doesn't

Your problem was you believed trump. HE told you it would be gone and that he has it under control and that it would be over by summer. HE told you that Hydroxychloroquine would be a miracle cure. BTW even today he and pence are still telling you the numbers of illnesses and deaths are falling (which we ALL know is a LIE)

When in doubt, stick with the doctors and scientists. While their specifics may change over time, they are usually right (or more correct) than most everyone else. ESPECIALLY POLITICIANS.

I agree with you CAL but I want to just point something out. Agree with the overwhelming majority of scientists whose job is directly related to whatever they are espousing.

Scientists, doctors - they are just people. There are plenty of idiot doctors and plenty of scientists who are plain crazy.

But when hundreds of doctors from all over the world are saying the same thing, or likewise for scientists... then it pays to at least give what they are saying some consideration. These are people who aren't going to get rich from you doing something or not doing something. These are people who are genuinely believing that this is true.

And yes, they can still all be wrong. Everyone thought the earth was flat, remember? But when evidence mounts, and it is repeated over and over, the likelihood that all of those are probably in the right direction is very high.

Likewise, if one or two guys comes out with a study that completely contradicts what the overwhelming message is - even if the results like up with what you want to believe, it is worth taking it with a very healthy grain of salt.

Not sure I can agree with this because there will always be a doctor or scientist that states otherwise on Youtube.

I think everyone is better off in the public being more informed than they were compared to 20 years ago. An informed public/consumer/patient who is more knowledgeable and able to make informed decisions on their choices in medicine is a good thing.

Problem is how you discern the noise from the signal. Hard to say. But no: people are making informed decisions on both sides and just because those who feel there is an overreaction doesn't mean they are following Trump for medical decisions. That is an awfully broad brush to paint people with.

I don't think SD ever said, I believe in hydroxchloroquine because Trump said so. Rather it was, why is everyone (everyone being media and leftists) against it just because Trump is in favor of it.

So it's time for me to admit that I was wrong about a few things:

[1] That covid would be over in a few weeks. It's certainly dragged out much longer than most people imagined. Places like Italy allowed it to burn through quickly, for them it's truly over. Sweden took few precautions and had a relatively high burn, it's mostly over. Here were still on the tail end of the 1st wave.
[2] Summer would kill the covid. Seems this is not really the case. Southwestern states are seeing hospitilizations increase. This is party due to resuming regular care but it is also due to covid.
[3] Yes, this is worse than the Flu. I'll point to Sweden since they did very little to stop the bug. They will end up with 2x as many deaths as the Flu. This is not the Black Death, but it is worse than I expected.

So go ahead Closers, enjoy it while you can




What's next?
- Will there be a vaccine? Possibly, but I don't think we should count on it
- Should everyone run around wearing masks? Still don't think so (except if you're sick, or old & infirmed)
- Should we continue the shutdowns/lockdowns? Absolutely not
- When will this be over? It's already over for Italy. We should open up and be done with this. Lock up grandma & grandpa in their nursing home and take good care of them while this sweeps the land.
- Is there a worldwide conspiracy? Highly unlikely
- Are the US MSM and liberals making the most of this crisis? Absolutely

Worse than the flu isn't saying much since the flu is barely a problem.

And even though all you said is true, it is still a mild virus, 99.9% of people will be perfectly fine, and we don't need stupid masks or to destroy the economy over it.

Was just talking this over with the family last night.

1) I think we should open everything up and just let whoever dies die.
2) Wear a mask if you feel like it (I will) or not.
3) Keep working on a vaccine because even if one is found there will be a group who won't take it just like other vaccines (I won't until proven) , more deaths.
4) Sort it all out next year with less front line workers (Grocery , Meat Packing , Health Care , Police , Fire , Farm Workers et al) who have died from folks that only care about their money & lifestyle.
5) Either way the economy is the loss because we use up resources if no one conforms and we lose it if people die. It's a no win situation.
6) IF there is anything left worthwhile we just rebuild society.

Seriously we need a reboot on a lot of thinking and maybe less people doing the thinking is the answer.

ETA: Most people don't understand that other than the older people the other groups dying are the ones that service you. Are you ready to take their job(s) ?

I agree. Just open up, let the chips fall where they may. We've been through much worse. Locking down the whole economy was amazingly stupid.

Side note on Doctors and Vaccines. Remember H1N1 ? You know what happened when that vaccine came out , it was sold and distributed inequitably and so will the Covid vaccine. Basically more death for the service sector and lower level living wage types. And yes that will include ALL races.

Yeah my wife gets pissed because I won't get flu shots. She always says l"ook at your shot card from the military all those vaccines" and I just laugh and say "that's because I wasn't able to choose" lol
